One factoid that fascinates me dates back to the early solar system. Apparently, back then Jupiter's moon Europa had a global ocean and atmosphere warmed by the heat from the forming Jupiter before it finally froze into the solid ice crust we know today.

If something as destructive as a black hole were headed our way near the speed of light, we'd notice it thousands of years before it ever hit.

And Cobol it claims.. odd that. Makes me wonder how reliable the article is. Also because fortran and assembler were still widely taught in the 80s and 90s due to many useful physics libraries - people with that knowledge are not rare.
