Learning French first isn't a 2 minute endeavour, its something that can take years and years (and it also depends on your definition of having "learned" the language, you don't really learn a language until you can converse fluently in it, can read and write etc, that takes a ton of time)

Learning French and THEN Spanish is at least a X2 effort.

I also speak French. It was easy. But then again, I speak 4 other languages, 3 of which are Romance. This is what we mean by stepping stones. Because French and Spanish are both Romance languages, learning one makes learning the other easier. S’why I took Portuguese and French at the same time.

I was going to say. I speak Spanish, Asturian (which helped with learning Galego), French (it made it much easier to learn Catalan) and English, and although there are some complexities involved (every language does), it's not a Herculean task as IM seems to imply.

Studying geography is pretty useless. Take any direction and the free market will take you wherever you want to go.

Here, I underlined a key word for you.
Besides. I know. I speak both of them. Knowing English makes it easier to learn French because of the overlap. Knowing French makes it easier to learn Spanish, because the overlap is that much greater. (Although note that French is Gallo-Romance and Spanish Ibero-Romance.) However, between English and Spanish is almost nonexistent. Learning French facilitates Spanish.

Learning just 1 language is always faster than having to learn 2 of them back to back.

Have you heard of languages being related? It makes you already know half the language.
