The Philippines has no real Navy. Total number of naval assets is a silly comparison as it does not differentiate between a cruiser and a row boat.

Even in the comparison of ship classes (Canada has the advantage in frigates and submarines) it is bad because the Philippine “frigates” are actually retired US Coast Guard Cutters from the 60s with only a few guns, no missiles.

We only have like several destroyers... which are surpluses from South Korea and Japan if I am not mistaken.

Well actually the Canadian Navy retired its destroyers. It has 12 frigates (Canadian made actually) but Canadian frigates, while dated actually have missiles.

If you played a scenario where both fought in the same small area of ocean the Canadian Navy would definitely win, but of course such a scenario would never actually happen.

He did threaten to flood the Pasig River with the corpses of drug addicts, promised to resign if the Philippines wasn’t drug free in 3-6 months, threatened to ride in a jetski to the Spratlys to place the Philippine flag in contested territory, and whatnot, but he is honestly is living joke with a senatorial candidatory lineup made up of thieves, singers, actors, and useless incompetents.

This is the sum of the Philippines right now. I’m honestly sick of this system. I just can’t wait for someone actually well-versed in politics, diplomacy, how not to get mad at everyone on this planet and infrastructure to actually do something good.

If the Philippines declared war I doubt NATO would attack the Philippines.

NATO has to defend Canada, but could do that by doing absolutely nothing.

He just behaves very erratically. He goes ahead saying statements like this while with regards to China, which Filipinos find as a much more serious threat, he's rather silent, or if not, speaks passive staments mostly on the issue of the Spratly Islands dispute, and the passive sounding statements his past spokespersons have made regarding the issue have made his administration a joke among the opposition.

So far, I see no dent in the relations between the Philippines and Canada because of the statement. As long as he doesn't continue to threaten Canada or enact orders that will jeopardize the relations between both countries, nothing will happen. Life goes on. I sleep.

Here's a comparison of the two nations in military. Canada has a larger amount of armor and budget, while Philippines has more in navy and manpower. Not that it matters much, since NATO will probably not let Canada be invaded even if the Philippines succeeded.

Even if NATO wasn't a thing, the commonwealth of nations would have our backs.
