Last time I've heard, being sprayed with lavender oil as a consequence of perpetuating nonsensical canards against transgender communities by someone who is not an authority figure, nor is he/she involved in the legislature, does not constitute congress banning you from saying XYZ.

So as long as congres doesn't do it it's fine to attack political opponents? Oh boy Freikorps here we come...

This, of course, would get you charged with assault.

Dismissal is violence!

Dismissal (Of someone's identity and self, in this case, the trans community) begets dehumanization and restricton of rights which in turn begets violence as it bypasses humans's natural aversion towards murder. Nobody here said dismissal directly leads to violence, and you don't have to shout "KILL THE DAMN TR*NNIES" to normalize aversion towards em.

If said speech helps perpetuate anti-transgender pogroms against innocent people who just seek to live a life of peace without being forced to hide who they are, then it should definitely not be above consequences or the law. There is a reason why Germany is so harsh against any expression of radical opinions, right or left, because they know that allowing said opinions to fester freely is what got em Weimar, several attempted military coups by anti-democratic extremists, and then a complete nightmare.

But yeah, we must not disrupt the free marketplace of ideas under any circumstances, even against aiding and abetting perpetuation of murders based on your XYZ, righto?

I never said that such a speech is good, I'm merely saying that the correct response is to speak out against what he's saying. Squirting lavender oil does nothing, and helps no one.

Or maybe don't immediately dismiss the observable fact that speeches which normalize hate do, in fact, normalize hate and, in turn, lead to increases of violence.

But nah, like I said earlier, words totally can't affect anything whatsoever.

Yes, because words that don't advocate violence are more violent than violence.

Do you ever get tired of repeating silly things or is it fun for you?

Maybe try actually reading my words instead of constructing strawmen, eh?

I'm not saying words that don't advocate violence are, by them fucking selves, violent. I'm saying that words which advocate some form of hatred toward a group of people, which are being spread in a public manner toward a larger audience, NORMALIZE HATE, which in turn LEADS to an increase in violence. Context is fucking important, and so are the words being spoken.

Considering the Freikorps were openly funded by Friedrich Ebert's government and the rightwing to suppress the Bavarian Spartacists and forcefully massacre socialists (As happened to Luxemburg) in the streets, that would be definitely classified as a violation of the First Amendment according to the text (Which prohibits the U.S. government from persecuting citizens solely on the basis of their speech). Not much of an argument now, was it?
