not in my experience. i've played lots of video games and obnoxious, whiny, macho bro dudes are a dime a dozen, especially on more popular games where they congregate in large numbers like Call of Duty, GTA Online, Overwatch, etc.

Online games with native VC tend to be toxic to everybody, not just whamen. Skilled players tend to get the brunt of it.

I remember playing this shitty nation building game called BLOC a while back. The players in the alliance I found myself in generally didn't take me or my advice on policy very seriously even though my nation was consistently ranked in the top 20 (out of thousands of players, btw) in the game, and I had innovated my own personal collection of weaker players into a protectorate/pseudo-imperial system. At one point I and my closest ally engineered the game's first oil cartel that on average controlled and produced half of the games oil (in fact it was estimated that at our height we controlled over 80% of the oil)....and still I got little if any respect. It's an uphill battle for a bitch in gaming.

It's embarrassing, is what it is, when people fucking act like that. Whether it's Low Tier God giving his fucking BBC alpha male spiel to his bunch of worthless drones, World of Warcraft guild drama over "not pushing enough" and "lazyness", Wings of Redemption setting a bad example for his small children audience on not throwing tantrums, harassing new players in an effort to police quality when what you're actually doing is very slowly killing the community, and, of course, excluding women because they're "distracting" or "can't be trusted".

I think the sticking point to these really, really straight (not gay guys) people is the word pride. They reason, why shouldn't I be proud to be straight when the gays are? I don't think it's literally gays doing rallies and salutes and all that shit, but rather an acknowledgement that a previously marginalised and oppressed people are happy with who they are. Pride may be the wrong term; acceptance is more apt.
