Bumping into people from your high school is kinda funny.

Yes!

I wish I could say the same, but those I consider friends are at least, and even helped me back when I was questioning my sexuality many years ago, and four years later I questioned my gender and realized I was nonbinary, and tried on various labels.

So as of yesterday I've been on the clinic waiting list for two years with no end in sight.

Whereas of you believed the estimated wait times the clinic themselves put out when I was referred I should be expecting my first appointment around now.

You're able to talk to people you knew from school without a burning cocktail of despair, bitter resentment, and murder-fantasy?

I didn't realise there were real-life popular people in here. I need to wash my hands, I might have caught germs.

My school was pretty bad in terms of the bullying and isolation that went on. I saw most people engage in it at some point or another, so I I really don't give a shit about anyone that I went to school with. Sure, those people might have changed now, but I really don't care to go to the effort to find out.

It was kinda awkward too, I was surprised the cashier at the fast food restaurant vaguely recognized me, ah well.

But yeah, there's only six clinics in the entire country specialising in care for Trans people. And none of them operate on informed consent.

I don't really get to experience that cause I transitioned in the middle of highschool. Though there was a bit in time where people thought I was two different people. Apparently when I was absent one day in orchestra there was a huge argument about where I or my old name was absent (attendance was done weird, teacher sat in the office while the sections figured it out themselves and listed who was missing to the concert master before they then said the names to the director). I'm sad I didn't get to see it.

I've pretty much cut my secondary school out of my life beyond the quals on my CV.

And I'm worried that keeping it on there is going to cause problems post transition because it was an all-male school.

It probably won't. Mine was too, but unless you're applying right in your immediate local area you went to school in no-one will recognise the school's name and no-one's interested enough to research that shit other than scanning in the certificate copy for their records once they've hired you. Remember the Jobsworth Principle.

So once I've run my DPs past the exam boards it should be all good.

Since apparently this is the only circumstances that they will change certificate names.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing Vass did too, tbh, for the same reasons, mostly because my school is a pretty well-known school and this country is so freaking small that everywhere is the immediate local area. I doubt there no one who doesn't know about it and its, like, four major competitors. Maybe if I immigrate...?

My only saving grace is that it has a mixed-gender junior college section (which I also attended), but the secondary school section is and continues to be all-male. My primary school was also all male, but I think I can more safely leave that out without anyone wondering why it's missing.

That sounds about right. Back in the day I got everything changed with a free deed poll printed off a website so it was one of the lower hurdles. Had to argue with a few people who got deed polls and statutory declarations confused, mind.

Kansas is to allow transgender people to correct their birth certificates. Apparently, that makes Ohio and Tennessee the only US states to still refuse this, which is much less than I would have expected. A good thing, although sadly it does not look like it will help non-binary trans folks much - and even for binary trans folks it looks like it may still be a bureaucratic hassle.

The number of transgender hate crimes recorded by police forces in England, Scotland and Wales has risen by 81%, latest figures suggest.

Data obtained by the BBC showed there were 1,944 crimes across 36 forces in the last financial year compared with 1,073 in 2016-17.

The Stonewall charity said it showed the "consequences of a society where transphobia is everywhere".

I'd like to think that the rise is just due to better reporting and awareness, but...
