Eh, I don't advertise what I am, it's a private issue for me, I'm still quite confused about who and what I am, and, in general, where I'm going and what I'm doing with my life. I'm an extreme case, though, plenty of people are quite happy and proud with who they are.

This is really the first time I've told anybody.

I assume your account is anonymous. Feel free to open up. It's an interesting topic, obscured by politics and hard to judge how much of it is based on nature vs nurture. I suspect there are many people pretending something their not in *both* directions. Frankly I think a lot of that are people who want to "feel special", but there are very likely people who conceal themselves to "look normal" too.

I came out, first to my partner, then to my in-laws, then to my wider community (including church) in the last three years. In the same timespan, I moved from male to androgynous and then more feminine attire. Then I recently moved to another town where I am presenting as a man again, in order to hold a job. Which sucks, but there's something to be said for feeding one's family - and at least I get to be myself at home.

My Discord account? Yeah, some people prefer it that way XD People are usually there to become someone else. It's more about storytelling than it is about anything else, immersion in characters and whatnot. They actually don't care what you look like, what your gender is, as long as you're good at playing your role. Indeed, I've seen quite a few people get mocked because they're bad at it, and breaking immersion is frowned upon. In fact, some servers prohibit any kind of personal information, because it can distract people.

As for me, I'm not really sure if I would be more comfortable as a man or a woman. I think I'm comfortable being both. Above all, I just like being... Me. If I was a man or a woman, it wouldn't really change who I am. I think I'm binary, because that's how I process my thoughts on it, but I don't really think that's cause enough to dismiss non-binary thinking. It's just different ways people think.

I've also been very casual with my sexuality. I was once a bisexual cis man who preferred femininity, and I had many, many, many sexual partners. Know why? Because I felt lonely, and I was looking for love, and I hated sleeping alone. My relationships, during that time period in college, were always very short, sometimes one-night stands. However, my current boyfriend is so... Hairy... And manly... And he has a thick beard and a thick moustache and I love it when he tickles me with it and I'm so attracted to him. My whole life, I preferred feminine men and women... Until him.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... Conclusion: What am I I don't know.

I'm stealth irl except at the trans support group I go to, but I wouldn't lie if someone asked me whether I was trans, so it depends on what you mean by "hide." The reason for the large number of non-binary and/or trans people in this thread is that the thread is specifically for trans issues, and it attracts trans people due to that.

There is some of that. What I’ve seen is that the environment many of them live in doesn’t lend itself for disclosure. Families are perhaps too conservative and do not view transgender people in a good light.

And for a trans person, if there isn’t family support, coming out and transitioning gets doubly difficult. Some do create strong friend and community support structures, but if the family were to be supportive, I’m sure things in term of expression and treatments (if needed), would have better outcomes and more visibility.

And for a trans person, if there isn’t family support, coming out and transitioning gets doubly difficult. Some do create strong friend and community support structures, but if the family were to be supportive, I’m sure things in term of expression and treatments (if needed), would have better outcomes and more visibility.

I have a supportive family, and as a result, I smoothly transitioned socially within the time span of 3 months thanks to their willingness to help. It's seriously so huge having a supportive family, especially if you're an adolescent who relies on them for paying for medications.
