Yep and keep in mind the affects on Cuba. Very few European Cruise lines want to give up the American Market just to go to Cuba. There is also a risk that even if they do not have American ports for their routes they could be forced to use an American port due to an Emergency (hurricane, sick passenger, etc) giving the the US Jurisdiction if they were served while here.

Odd but the remote prospect of some folks who used to own port facilities in La Habana winning a US court judgement against Carnival doesn't seem to have worried any cruise ship companies enough to stop them from making 326 calls there in 2019 alone. Why is that do you think? Oh and try to book one of them, particularly from Miami, most fill well in advance of sailing.

As your OP Thread Host as I love to call myself and all my fellow OPs, I was going to let my thread die to spare you of my posts, lol. But a certain nation revived it before it could die off, lol.

President Trump has stated in his tweets that if the Cuban government regime does not withdraw all its troops and support for Maduro, he will place a total embargo on Cuba with very strong sanctions, as he says their economy is in the shits, and they have a lot to loose.

While I would love him to that that, which would probably lead to a new Balsero Rafter crisis which would be considered an act of war on the USA by President Trump, with a US naval blockade of Cuba, nothing goes in, nothing goes out until the Cuban regime for life falls from within and without.

I am not under any illusions that he will do so, but what I am saying is, President Trump is very capable of doing so.

If Cuban Troops and Militia do not immediately CEASE military and other operations for the purpose of causing death and destruction to the Constitution of Venezuela, a full and complete......embargo, together with highest-level sanctions, will be placed on the island of Cuba. Hopefully, all Cuban soldiers will promptly and peacefully return to their island!

A Trump Tweet, or any kind of statement for that matter, is an awfully thin reed to hang your hopes on here amigo. Is he going to ask the Russians to leave as well? Apparently not after chatting up man crush Putin, or the meeting earlier this weekend between the Russian and Venezuelan foreign ministers. All that matters to this corrupt, venal, callous, feckless administration is what will get the biggest cheers at the next campaign rally. The interests of the nation -- leave alone the welfare of the people of Cuba or any other nation -- is not a consideration.

In case you missed it, the US tried sanctioning Russia during the Obama Administration. How'd that work out? As for Cuba, do you really thing Republicans need a reason to revive the sanctions to get enough of the Cuban emigrant votes in Florida, to counter the newly acquired felon votes of the Democrats? This isn't about foreign policy, it's about what Florida will do in 2020.

Ok you made a few good sounding points. As I said I am not under any illusions he will do so, just because he said it or tweeded it. President Trump has the vote of most Cuban Americans anyway, many of which are Cuban American Republicans like my family, we also support President Trump on Venezuela, the legal and illegal immigration issue, on the conservative US Supreme Court Justices like Kavanaugh, and on the economy, not just Cuba.

But how much of that voter base will turn out? With Arizona becoming unsafe, Trump needs Florida. He cannot win the presidency without keeping either Florida or Arizona. On the other hand, if he takes Florida, then he can afford to lose Michigan and Wisconsin, but not Pennsylvania. It's a very important state. In order to win Trump needs to keep the coalition, and Florida's one of the five key states - the others being Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and of course Pennsylvania. Trump's at 220, so Florida + Pennsylvania gets him up to 269, and Republicans have more states than Democrats.

Um no. Clinton outperformed Obama among Cuban-Americans, winning a majority of the Cuban-American vote nationwide.

Obama Administration sanctions on Russia worked out well enough that Putin launched a full-court press to deny Secretary Clinton the Presidency. Granted it hasn't changed Russian behavior all that much, but given the results of their election interference, can you blame them?

According to this article Carnival Cruise Lines which has its corporate headquarters in south Florida is the first corporation to be sued under tittle III of the Helms Burton Law, I say, sue the heck out of them.

https://www.wlrn.org/post/first-lawsuit ... -title-iii

If anyone has posted about this on my thread, I don't read all 10 pages even on my own thread, besides, you get to read my views and comments, all of our views and comments on any post or issue are similar or different, each in their words and style.

A few excerpts"

“In the 1960s the Castro brothers and the communist friends came and stole our property from my grandfather at gunpoint," said Mickael Behn, the president of Havana Docks Corporation. "That was a business his father built in 1917 to supply and modernize, and it was a successful business. The cruise lines have been using Havana Docks port infrastructure for several years without consequence to them ... They knew very well the ownership, it wasn’t a secret to them or anyone else.”
“They just hoped my family would die and fade away,” he said. “We won’t.”
Javier Garcia-Bengochea is the descendant of owners of La Marítima, which owned similar confiscated dock facilities in Santiago de Cuba. “

We were Middle Class, I should be able to get back the family farm where I used to ride horses and eat mangos under the big mango tree and the Hotel, Bar and Restaurant or at least compensation for it.

The three bedroom, 2 bath house, with the stone walled and fenced front porch, the small two floors house we built in the stone walled back yard, the extra kitchen and extra dinning room we built unto the house.

Today in bad need of repairs according to a family friend still in Cuba who knows the current family living their.

The two daughters of Voltaire the Rich Upper Class Padrino of our family in Cuba, a member of High Society, should be able to get back their father's 5 family style restaurants in La Habana City Province, and his other investments in many businesses, or at least compensations.

Voltaire once told me, we were ready, willing and able to help Fidel, but he betrayed us and nationalized all our businesses.

I could have been the general manager of the chain of Restaurants, which I would have turned into a major chain of Restaurants all over Cuba and Miami.

Voltaire was supposed to leave Cuba on a Raft, built secretly on a farm near the coast, with his wife and two young daughters and a group of people, one of the persons who was supposed to go on the raft, told Voltaire a few days before, I met x and he seemed very nervous, I think he told on us, don't go, but Voltaire did not listen to him, and when he tried to leave Cuba on the raft, their was the Cuban Coast Guard waiting for him.

He went to prison for x numbers of years, and his wife was put under house arrest because of their two young daughters.

Until x numbers of years back, when Cubans wanted to leave Cuba legally, the right way, they had to work on Cuban Government State Farms as so called voluntary labor, until their immigration Visas were approved by the USA.

A few years ago under Raúl, the Cuban government regime changed the law, where by the Committees For the Defense of the Revolution CDRs, entered your house or room and sealed it off, until the Cuban government confiscated all their possessions for the Revolution, family members who did not live in the house, and family members who lived in the house could not have access to anything, not even Pics-Photos of the family, I am not making any of this up, I guess that is what they call democracy in Cuba under the eternal revolution.

My browser just went through a nervous breakdown, all my current posts, past posts and searches kept appearing and disappearing, I don't know why, I think I have been cyber attacked by Cuban government agents, lol, as my guy Cousin Primo, who emigrated from Cuba a few years ago legally the right way, told me when I showed him and told him all about NS, be careful what you say about our family in Cuba, because if the Cuban government finds out who you are they can make life Hell for our family still in Cuba.

I have tons of posts with views and comments I can post about, tons of persons on this thread I can quote, great thread, great pro and con comments, as your OP Thread Host as I love to call myself and all my fellow OPs, I am very proud of this thread, thank you all for your pro and con votes and posts, keep voting and Posting.

Here we go again, democratic socialism has never actually been practiced, I think that is what you mean, and correct me if that is not what you mean, the funny thing is , most of the real democratic communist socialists on NS who believe in a real socialist democracy still support and excuse these regimes, which they say have never practiced real democratic communist socialism, lol.

No. You mentioned some nations that are an authoritarian brand of socialism, and then you used them as examples against democratic socialism. It'd be the equivalent of me mentioning the Spanish Inquisition, and then saying that's a bad point of Buddhism etc...

That is social democracy.
Not democratic socialism.
The names sound similar but the systems are quite different.
