I hope either the Braves, Twins, or Astros win this year. The Dodgers or Yankees winning would suck because those teams always have the money to have good players while most other teams have to go through periods of rebuilding.

It wasn't a 30 year decline, and the worst of it was in the 80s and early 90s when they didn't even make the playoffs.

Also the Yankees didn't make the playoffs from '65 until they made to the world series in '76. And yeah "decline" was kind of a wrong word to use, more like after '64 it was an utter collapse and struggle until the mid 70s and then collapsed again in '82 and struggled until '95. I'd also argue that if the strike in '94 hadn't happened the Yankees could have made it. They were 6.5 games ahead of Baltimore, but now we will never know.

The last time the Dodgers won the World Series was in 1988. The next time they were even in the Series was 2017. They lost. The next year, 2018, they lost again.
The last time the Yankees were in the Series was 2009. They won. They lost the Series to the Marlins in 2003 and to the Diamondbacks in 2001. They did win four of five titles from 1996 to 2000 but that was twenty years ago.
The Dodgers and the Yankees are not as dominant as people think.

A Yankees -- Expos (they had the best record in MLB at the time of the strike) series in '94 might have been interesting.
