People usually forget he came up as a Chicago Cub. On June 15, 1964, the Cubs dealt Lou Brock, Jack Spring and Paul Toth to the St. Louis Cardinals for Ernie Broglio, Bobby Shantz, and Doug Clemens. It was one awful trade for the Cubs for a couple reasons. Trading Brock was against the advice of Cub coach and future HOFer Buck O'Neil. They did it anyway. Lou fit in perfectly with the Cardinals. St. Louis went on the become World Series Champs in 1964 and 1967. Brock was named an all-star six times and lead the NL in stolen bases eight times. He was an awesome player to watch. Very sorry to hear of his passing.
I loved watching him run the bases, he ran hard. The man just knew how to steal a base.
