Stat line comparison:

Ryu: 2.32 ERA, 3.10 FIP, 29 GS, 182.2 IP, 1.007 WHIP, 163 SO, 179 ERA+, 5.1 bWAR, 4.8 fWAR

deGrom: 2.43 ERA, 2.67 FIP, 32 GS, 204 IP, 0.971 WHIP, 255 SO 167 ERA+, 7.3 bWAR, 7.0 fWAR

The only stats Ryu had a lead in were ERA and ERA+, and by a small margin. deGrom was better in everything else.

Ryu didn’t lead the league in wins. Even if he did, pitching wins are one of the worst stats to measure the success of a pitcher that Cy Young committee doesn’t pay much attention to anymore.

As demonstrated by deGrom last year. It would be ludicrous to say that, because he had 18 wins as compared to deGrom's 10, John Lester was better than deGrom that year, when deGrom had an ERA of 1.70 and an FIP of 1.99 as compared to Lester at 3.32 ERA and 4.39 FIP.

Oh yeah - he was easily Houston's best pitcher. While I'm sad to see him go I can't say I'm surprised, especially after the signal stealing scandal. We're gonna miss him.

You mean the game when Alonso hit his 50th homer? As a Mets fan, I gotta say that was fun to watch... but I do have to give Castillo credit, it took a while for the Mets to crack him.
