US flag colors spark backlash.

Putting American flags on police cars sparked a backlash in Laguna Beach recently. Concerned citizens petitioned against having the stars & stripes represented on police vehicles! Should these policemen be allowed to express their patriotism on their service vehicles? Are these petitioners un-American? Is all white more visible than red, white, and blue? After heavy criticism, the police department has decided to reconsider their decision, and it will be brought up on Tuesday. Is this design "very aggressive" as claimed? Are you intimidated by US colors on a police vehicle? Full story here:

No matter what one does, someone will always be offended. It's just how things are today.

This is a pretty stupid thing to protest over.

The fact that people are protesting over this to begin with is just... amazing. In a bad way.

If someone wants American flags on there police cars, be my guest. However, the design Laguna Beach has gone for is kinda just a bit stupid and just doesn't look that good. Looks a bit like clipart on the side of the car.

It's not like they're painting a lionized image of Trump on them.

I mean, it's just a flag. However, I wouldn't want the flag to look like cliparty. That just looks awkward to me. I'm fine if they either use the flag or not. I'm not fine with some weird rendition of it.

I wonder what kind of outcry they'd face if they did? Rioting maybe? Wouldn't surprise me tbh.

If they did paint that lionized image on their cars, then that would be one hell of a dumb decision.

Doing that would be politicizing the apolitical police. It’s like if the IRS had a Bernie Sanders poster.

They would take it as a sign that the police will be openly brutal to suspects given Trump encouraged police to smash suspects' heads against the doorframe of cruisers.

Well, I'm not advocating they do that. I was wondering what the mobs would do if they did.

He said that in regards to murderers, in an area beset by gang violence... nice way to take it out of context.

Edit: and also, not even close to how violent you are describing it, stop misrepresenting him to push an agenda.

So we have two people quoted as objecting to the design painted on their local area's 11 cop cars.

Wow, what backlash. Look at all that outrage. Fucking riots on the streets of Laguna Beach. Call in the National Guard, political correctness has gone nuclear!

The objections I saw was that the art sucked (or rather did not look like it fit with the area), that the design of the cars made them look like SWAT team when there are multiple together, and one that thought there was an issue with painting the part of a flag on the vehicle.

Imagine that. An artist thinking that the design doesn't fit with the local aesthetic. Madness! The left has gone too far this time.

Healthcare & inequality are not our biggest issues. They also have been covered by various threads, to the point that, that horse is now mincemeat, whereas this is a new issue that hasn't been covered.

Ah, so this thread is you trying to stir up a backlash against two people not liking the new design on their local cop cars. Cool. Very normal thing to do.

This isn't an issue though. This is a nonissue people are trying to make into one. Some artists didn't like the design, cool.

In her own good land here she's been abused
She's been burned, dishonored, denied, and refused
And the government for which she stands
Is scandalized throughout the land

The issue is that the government is yielding because two people objected.

Apparently not much since all they are doing is making the flag pattern a little lighter.

Ah, yes, the insidious killer, climate change. Remind me again, how many casualties has it claimed? I can't seem to find a list anywhere.

Our police in Baton Rouge have flags on their vehicles and so do Louisiana state troopers. To be honest I think a lot of departments do. Besides, you live in America. Ifthe American flag offends you, how do you walk to a grocery store without having some sort of a meltdown.
