I think very philosophically while fast and I mediate deeply on the attributes of Allah.

Much of my dreams become quite vivid as well. They feel as real as the reality I feel right now.

I am very excited for the next month. My soul feels great joy right now as I just listened to a sermon by my regional missionary on zoom.

We ahmadis in the west start a day after than most muslims since they follow Saudi Arabia's time for all the earth.

Hey, I just noticed that you use thr NU's flag :p

Well, it's....rather fortunate that you are not in an area where the time is extreme for fasting Muslims.

I heard that Brunei started a day late than Malaysia and Indonesia too, because the hilal can't be seen or something similar.

I have a question for NSG’s Muslim community, whether that’s those born into it, converts etc - and it’s this:

Now forgive me, you’re all probably sick of answering questions that also incorporate some degree of politics, but here it is.

Why is that Ibadi branch of Islam tends to be “less radical” than the Sunni and Shia branches? I’m aware that Sunni Islam makes up around 80-90% of the world’s Muslims and therefore there will be a lot more variance amongst adherents. (Similar to Shia Muslims - just on a larger scale.)

Feel free to answer this or cackle deeply at my ignorance, thanks!

While my sig is mostly jest, and I do not want to harm those who are tankies, let me say this: If you’re the type to talk about “fash” or “bashing the fash” yet refuse to criticise the crimes of Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao, then you need to take a long, hard fucking look at yourself. Because you ARE the thing you want to “bash”, even if you dress it up in a different skin.

Peace be onto you:

I’m not really sure. While I disagree with some of their beliefs, most of their practices such as religious tolerance and abhorrence of violence are just what a good Muslim regardless of sect should hold anyway. I have heard their “founder” described as moderate (which seems to always mean not very religious when referring to a Muslim), but have seen no evidence of that.

We start our fast Saturday. So for us, Ramadan starts tomorrow night. Since the first crescent moon isnt out here yet, this is consistent with the Sunnah.

Depends on which Sunnis you're talking about. The far right? Yea, they're radical and nobody likes them. The others? Get to know them and decide for yourself! Me? I'm so sinophilic and pro artistic expression the far right would call me a "KaFir ChInaboO LibeRal".

Disclaimer: I'm not a liberal, I just hate fundamentalism.

I'm trying to "restart" my faith with Ramadan this year. I'm doing alright today, it's not so hard on me. But I feel so bad for falling away from the path to begin with.

Ramadan is a great reminder for us to focus on the Hereafter as even the food this world and the pleasure we enjoy from time will one day cease to exist.

I've been finding ramadan rather easy (its shorter here ik but still), but haven't been as good at increasing my other things as I would have liked.

Assalamu'alaykum brothers and sisters. Some people would likely be surprised to see me here, considering my IC persona, but hey.

Jolthig wrote:Hows the first day of Ramadan (or second for the rest of you) going for you all? Mines going great.

My first day was great, alhamdulillah. I missed sahur on the second day, though. Fortunately I was still able to survive :p

Same as me, brother. The guilt is real. But I'm sure we'll all succeed in this year's Ramadan.

Now comes the philosophical thinking that comes along with fasting. My reading of the Quran while fasting, is a lot different than when I'm not. Since, I ponder more deeply on the verses I'm reading, and I think of the attributes of Allah.
