Very good! I'm trying to read the Holy Quran every morning and start going to masjid weekly.

There used to be an ex-Ismaili here at one point many years ago, but he left NSG.

That Iranian "murtad" that Sharifistan tried to report to the Iranian police to have him executed? Nah he's still here. And because those who hate the beloved Sahabah of the Prophet ﷺ RA are not real Muslims Frie is not a murtad.

You can't persecute a non-Muslim for not following shariah.

There are plenty of groups across history whose practical experience would suggest otherwise.

I stress that's not a criticism of Islam per se, only an observation that this is an area where theory and practice have perhaps historically diverged.

Yes. I know Freivolk did and became atheist. I used to speak with him a lot as well (still occasionally do).

I don't disagree. I think at the end of the day, it's politics. Right? Whoever wants the most power and acquired such, will automatically be afraid to lose it. They will implement strict laws to stop society from deviating. Whenever those who rebel do, they will become harsh.

It has happened in both the Muslim and Christian communities, and has happened in even atheist.

I love Jesus.

I'll share what I've been reading.

Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya, part 3, pp. 177 wrote:"It is obvious that high moral qualities of someone are conclusively proved only when they are exercised on the proper occasion, and it is only then that they affect the hearts. For instance, forgiveness is worthy of credit and praise only when one has the power to take revenge, and chastity is commendable only when he has the power to fulfil his carnal passions."

What book is this from?
Renaissance man, Centrist, Award-winning Journalist
The positions I take on here are generally more exaggerated than the ones I hold in real life.

General Assembly resolution A/RES/38/17 (22/11/1983) stated that it "Reaffirms the legitimacy of the struggle of peoples for their independence, territorial integrity, national unity and liberation from colonial domination, apartheid and foreign occupation by all available means, including armed struggle".

I couldn't fast if I wanted to. I probably have diabetes which I am working on seeing if it is diabetes or just really bad hypoglucosis. Unfortunate.

First things first, I would to apologize for coming off as aggressive to you the other day in the other discussion. Didn't mean to come off that way to you. I just wanted to take the role of aggressor for that debate but came off sounding a bit arrogant.

Yeah, as a convert of over 7 years, I gained:

1. An improved self
2. A wife
3. A child
4. Increased knowledge
5. Trying out different things from other cultures
6. Learning other languages
7. Loving my fellow man more
8. Learning how people work better
9. Reflecting on God and life benefits me
10. I overcame many bad habits one by one.

Now the above is all my personal experience and I'm not going off religious script this time. Keeping it real. 8)

I am quite grateful to the God I believe in.

Yeah if you have that, don't fast.

You can always do Fidya (explication)

Fidya (expiation) is in an essence, compensation for a missed fast. You give money to feed the poor or you can feed them yourself. Then, for those who can fast again, they can fast some other time, but for those permanently sick, Allah knows their intentions and such inabilities are pardoned. :)

I can't afford to pay Fidya, I might try to feed people though.

It's okay. Do according to your means. Sometimes it can be something as simple as volunteering for a local charity.

That's what we do.

I'm going to watch some stuff about how Islam is the righteous religion and see if I might make the jump.

Best advice is to pray directly to God for the right faith for you. And Insha'Allah you'll get your answer. :)
