Given that the ISS constantly travels around the earth, I believe the Prophet's ruling on this subject is the same as those who on a journey: They may face whatever is convenient for them since one is on a journey and does not know where Mecca is or is not able able to face Mecca. So one may do salat any direction they wish, though I'd personally face earth itself, and it might be preferable that way.

Ah, thank you, I didn't know that

How would that work in primitive alien muslim societies where the solar system is not visible with the naked eye and astronomy is not advanced enough yet ?
If they have received islam, they must know what star system it came from
Man that really raises a question. Do aliens need to be Muslim to receive salvation? I mean I know technically under the rules of Islam you don't absolutely have to be Muslim to avoid going to hell, but you do have to believe in one God, but those kinds of rules don't apply to animals. If they don't apply to animals, do they apply to non human lifeforms from other planets?

It is only humans that are given the choice of heaven or hell. All other lifeforms while having souls, don't have those options. They have their own laws - nature itself.
