With Brexit and all, things might sound bleak for the EU. but don't worry, there's always new members acceding!
So who is that next member? We have some candidates.
Serbia-A primary frontrunner for the EU, Serbia's main issue is Kosovo, and their deep ties with Russia present a problem. And recognizing Kosovo would be political suicide in Serbia. Talks began in 2014. 3 of 35 done.
Montenegro- Another candidate, Talks began in 2012 and they already use the Euro. Corruption is the main hurdle. 3 of 33 chapters cleared.
Albania- Not negotiating, but is a candidate. Like Montenegro, Corruption is the main roadblock. They probably could start talks, nut the EU has bigger fish to fry.
North Macedonia-So they got the name change. Yay. They got and angry Albanian minority. And there not the best economically.
Turkey- Turkey looks like there moving away, with talks suspended. Cyprus and the current government are the issues.
Bosnia And Herzegovina-There recognized as a potential candidate. The issue is they can't get crap done because the Muslim/Croat part wants to go one way and the Serb part the other.
Kosovo-Potential candidate. Of course there not going nowhere unless Serbia recognizes them. A possible land deal is in store.
