What exactly do you mean by that? Do you mean like romanticizing war and the military action during wartime or the soldiers? For the first one I would say it is because of this romanticized(more like delusional) idea of dying with honor and glory for your country some have. If you mean the soldiers I would say it is because war is a awful thing to go through so and soldiers tend to possess amazing courage which people respect.
