Now that I think about it red heads are rare to see as main characters.

Plus Ariel is such an iconic character (Not sure if more or as iconic like Mickey Mouse or Snow White, but she is up there) that seeing a remake made into live-action and the titular character is not a red head, I'm sure people would not be pleased either way. Plus remakes of classic cartoons are just not a good idea imo.

I think as long as the remake retains the same emotions and feeling displayed, also the same background story, and the exact plot, it’s good enough. An exact remake of the character would be nice too. It can be like the recent Aladdin movie.

Don't you know that -- when that film is mentioned -- Mickey Mouse cries! :o

I enjoy making the Mouse cry. He tries to take over the world with the power of money and then remembers that he has a past. It makes me feel alive.

Cry for me Mickey, cry for me.

I’m not a fan of Disney animation. I prefer movies with real humans acting in them. Disney’s remake of Aladdin was the first non-action film I watched in years. That’s how interesting it was. If it was an animation, I’d definitely not even have considered it. Is that weird?

It also doesn't help that most red heads and gingers are white, so if they call stuff like that out they're seen as racist. Even though most of their ancestors have faced racism in America, because Irish and other European peoples weren't seen as white and thus faced the same segregation and institutional problems as black people did.

So yeah, it's complicated.

Yes. Watch animated films, there is an amazing back catalogue of them from all over the globe and they are great. Besides if you watch a marvel movie these days you're basically watching an animated film.

Song of the South may have some really unfortunate undertones, but damn that song and James Baskett's performance are just so charming.

He's just a happy slave paid servant living out his life with the fun cartoon animals while strolling around the big house manor.

I have no idea what undertones you're talking about.

It would make more sense if the skin color was somehow important and linked to the character such as how all of the Frozen girls are white cause they're literally like in Denmark or something. But nah apparently fish woman who lives under the sea has to be white.

They should just stop making these live-action remakes, tbh. It kinda feels like they're edging out 2D animation which kinda sucks.

Edging out 2d animation?

They already did that in the mid 2000's. Disney's last 2d film was released a decade ago. Their 2d animation department has been relegated to making clip montages of classic Disney movies at Disney Land and World and have lost their main studio. Half of their animated shows are lazily made on Flash, an outdated animation program.

I can imagine myself in an operating theatre with you trying to set up a brainwashing device.

I do realise many movies have CGI animation in them, though. Yet I’m not really that fond of it being overused. I prefer when animation isn’t used but rather acts performed by people. Like Jackie Chan.

Disney still does make animated films though, CG ones. You know, a technology that's infamous for becoming outdated every single year and doesn't last anywhere near as long as 2d animation.

Earlier.

Princess and the Frog was just the final nail in the coffin, Treasure Planet and Home on the Range are when Disney decided to end it.

Ahh... yes CG animation. They’re not outdated, just overused. I appreciate how they aren’t as shitty as some random channel’s Minecraft intro.
