Okay, I think his most recent representative statement on it would be this. From a h3h3 podcast a year and a half ago. Not as apologetic as I remember, unfortunately, but he does admit he was being a dunce and had his foot in his mouth.

Retro games, yeah. Reaction comedy, not so much. These days I mostly watch MTG videos and Forgotten Weapons (and music obviously).

Well, not really. It's the same difference as watching live segment on the news or a recorded synopsis in the next broadcast.

Ah, I guess you got me there; I was thinking more of the unedited nature of those types of videos? Like, at least for the let's plays most people would think of (facecam, game playing for 15 minutes, the works)

Though I suppose that would make it a livestream... and a stream could count as the shortform for it, but it could also count as a "not live" stream... *really wish I could shrug with a smilie here*

Streamer is just a shorthand to describe a person who regularly streams, even if they did get popular with YouTube and still get more viewers on YouTube.
JonTron is not a streamer, ProJared is half a streamer, and Commander Holly is definitely a streamer.
