April Fools is a day for mildly disappointing people, at the most inconvenience, it's not supposed to be for harmful pranks or major let downs or dropping big bombshells (pregnancy, divorce, "I cheated on you") just for them to be fake and 'jokes'.

Something sensible like telling your kid their favorite breakfast food is in the kitchen when its not - mild disappointment. Going to the flea market, buying a lawn flamingo, destroying it and then hiding the still good garden flamingo of your wife to say you ran it over and present her the broken one she likes before revealing the real one is okay. It's really a talent to craft something mildly disappointing.
