For a second, I thought that said Alabama and not Albania and was very confused.

Goddamnit, Nak was right.

Right about what?

I don't know much about psychedelics. I only know about psychedelic rock, which I love.

Yeah sure, I don't mind. What do you want to screenshot it for though?

To prove to myself that this happened.

And a greater commentary on power dynamics and information, but…

Democracy has no inherent value when the people elect morons who destroy their economies and try to cozy up with the Soviets. We literally did nothing wrong.

Could you imagine actually unironically defending the "democracy for me, not for thee" imperialist oppression Latin America faced because a lot of countries simply freely elected socialist governments? Incredibly fucked up.

I've seen people unironically defend any tyrannical regime you can think of. All of them. Even the one you're thinking is so over-the-top evil that nobody would support them. I've seen people support them.

It's honestly pathetic as fuck, tbh, seeing that shit. And I say that as somebody who used to defend Stalin.

Look I'm just gonna say what we're all thinking you have to respect Idi Amin for being the Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular.

Some moron who thought Pol Pot's mass murders were American propaganda because the atrocities were "too insane to be real". They were real.

And a few people overlooked the mass murders and became Idi Amin fans because of this title, and his other "eccentricity".

You know, if they weren’t really well documented, that would almost be a legitimate point. Almost.

Actually the US supported the Khmer Rogue retaining their seat in the UN during the occupation of Cambodia by Bolshevist Vietnam. (who kicked out Pol Pot because he was too creepy even for them)

The sheer uselessness of rhetoric to change a set mind, but the ability of results to do that instead. Hitter didn’t capture the minds of Germans by convincing the social democrats that he was right, he did it by blaming them (and a lot of other people) for Germany’s economic situation.

I’m going to assume anyone who thinks that the horror that was Pol Pot is American propaganda doesn’t know that.

Are you going to use me as an example? Let me clarify, I was half joking about the "maybe Communism is right" comment.

I think the common stance is that he was a CIA spy doing that to make Communism look bad.

You’re not an idiot.
But. Essentially, the point is thus-that unless negative results can be seen and linked to a position, rhetoric will do little to any strongly held position.

Hmm. Maybe. But those weird amazon bots aren't bad results of capitalism, they're more like... bad arguments for capitalism. And y'know what they say, the best argument against something is a bad argument for it.
