I don't think anyone actually unironically thinks that tbh.

It's not really whataboutism when used against a person who brings up a famine to demonstrate that capitalism is superior to communism. It's a counter example. It would be whataboutism if a commie brought it up in response to the authoritarian rule of the Soviet Union, however.Nova Cyberia wrote:North German Realm wrote:I mean... the last one is absolutely correct.

It is true, but it doesn't change the fact that communist regimes have historically been rather shit at providing their people with food.
It's only ever used a particularly flimsy whataboutism.

Once you "ironically" say stuff enough, you start to believe it.

The biggest trick America pulled was convincing its own workers that having rights is somehow a bad thing that'll bring the end times.

And uh, not really? I mean, capitalism is equally shitty at providing health for its citizens when it doesn't have a sane -socialist in nature- welfare scheme and labor laws.

>socialist in nature
Oh, boy. We're doing the "Scandinavian capitalism is actually socialism but only when it's politically convenient for me" thing again.

Actually, my bad. I should've said "left-wing" rather than "Socialist". And uh, nobody's claiming Scandinavia's socialist. the countries have some of the highest rates in economic freedom for crying out loud.
