Standard of living isn't the most important thing. Even with higher standards of living today, people rate their lives as less satisfying, moreover, the rampant consumerism overproduces wants instead of needs, the end result of which will be resource shortages. We're in a spike of living standards because we're right now at a point where only a small portion of the global population enjoys Western consumer standards of living, but once you have increases in standards of living elsewhere, we'll witness resources like energy and minerals being used at a much higher rate.

Standard of living is the most important thing, at least far more important than spiritual or personal enlightenment or whatever, because you can't force a person to be enlightened.

They never said "this was definitely, totally cement, and we're sure of it." though. They stated explicitly that they'd been sent information, not that they had proof or that it was objective fact. This isn't new for police. They get information, which they usually tell people, and then investigate that info, and the claims made by witnesses.

Saying "We have information that X happened" isn't the same as promoting one side.
