I mean, if you had a flamethrower you would still be in a bad place. The dogs are bred to kill and ignore extreme pain. They would just run through the flames and kill you. Then they would cook alive.

Then, before the battle begins I bite his throat out. When the first wave of dogs arrive, I say, "good job boys, we got him." Wait for them to go away, collect my prize money, rent a moderately posh condo.

This is why I see it as mercy killing: There are only three groups of physically healthy animals capable of feeling and processing pain that ignore pain, and all three groups involve basically torturing the animal until said animal snaps.

I just find it highly suspicious that both my dog and this supposed "Dogmeat" have the same goals of murdering a human to get a Condo.

More than a thousand bloodthirsty dogs - no matter how good I get as a marksman I probably could not do it. Stability under pressure would get difficult, coupled with the occasional checks at my allies.

TBH it's probably not doable anyway. Even with infinite ammo, the barrels would overheat.

I saw the word "dog" and then saw the author and got worried for a moment. Then I came here and saw that we're killing 3,000 dogs... So more or less par for the course I guess.

It may just be not everyone reading the OP fully. Or some of the people may not know that many people they'd trust to be able to handle this sort of thing. I don't really got a good answer there though.

Not really. While the money is tempting, it seems like a lot of work with a high risk of injury or death for myself. I’ll figure out another, more legal or illegal, way to get that money that doesn’t have a good chance of me dying.

Or they could be idiots who genuinely think that they can hold off the hordes alone! As to the three, I guess the guy doesnt want to split his money too many ways. He figures someone will probably die.

Edit: I think my strategy would be to (as I said) here some spetznatz. Sit up on the box of ammo, take the handgun for emergencies, and let my hired guns do the work. I could fill mags and pass out ammo too I guess, but I have no RL experience with anything on the level of a AK-47. No, I would stick with my handy Desert Eagle or Glock. Light up a dog if it gets to close to my men.

Not wanting to risk the life of anyone I trust that much is all. I don't see myself having even ok odds. I just don't care. If I succeed, I'm set for life. If I fail, I go to heaven. Literally no significant downside.

The state of mind required to ignore both fear and pain makes it a near-certainty that it would be more akin to mass euthenasia. Those dogs are too far gone to save and the damage is done. We ain't talking about Ol Yeller here.
