Yes, it does. This is why it is much harder for black people to succeed in the United States and are more likely to suffer harsher punishments from, say, the judicial system than white Americans. It's why drug abuse is a trope in depictions of the black community despite white people using drugs at similar rates.

Because generally the ones that emigrated after the bans on Asian immigration were lifted tended to be well off and educated. Further, a lot of these immigrants tended to overlook the racist system or engage in it in order to improve their own prospects. Not to mention, Asian communities (especially East Asian) have never occupied the lowest rungs. Most laws that sought to punish interracial relationships were not targeted to Asian populations, though quite a lot did, for example whilst all targeted the black community.

Why are they more well off than white people in an apparent caste system that white people themselves created? Shouldn't white people be on top if that was the case?
