The Nazis held certain concepts and people as high as a god, so you could say that they thought something along those lines. They also at one point thought they were unbeatable.

Although Imperial Japan would be a better example (however heretical their gods were, they had faith in divine military intervention) than Nazi Germany, which had no specific stance on which religion was theirs.

The Russians have FAR more nuclear weapons now the Soviets did in the 50s. And less shitty delivery systems.

Anyways it is not like the threat of nuclear war is gone now, and having something to unite people beats the post Cold War nihilistic infighting.

I'd probably want to be a middle-class Roman living in Rome under the Empire at its height in the 2nd century. Perhaps I was in a past life, there's no other reason why I have an unusual passion for going to the gym and spending 1/4th of the time exercising and 3/4ths of the time rotating between the steam room, hot tub, sauna, and pool. Or sudatorium, caldarium, laconicum and natatorium.

A system for regulating the loyalty of troops, a system for organizing armies on a battlefield which can be simplified or complex depending on how you want to general your troops, as well as a system for deciding combats.

Here's a brief part that doesn't go into things like units and troop bonuses:

Each player gets to have an initial deployment, then they flip a coin for whose turn is first. Unopposed movement is automatically successful, but when ordering an attack, the attacking player must roll a D20. Below 5 is a critical failure (rout after one turn of combat), 5-9 is a failure (attacking unit loses 25% strength after one turn of combat, can reroll to attack with a malice to rolling value), 10 is an even combat (neither unit is weakened, combat is engaged but both units evenly matched). 11-15 is a successful combat (defending unit loses 25% strength, attacking unit rerolls next combat with bonus to rolling value), 16-20 is a critical success (defending unit routs after one turn of combat). When attempting to move past an opposing unit without engaging in combat, the other player may roll an intercepting attack before before their turn.

Attacks on the flank of a unit have a +5 bonus to their attacking roll, attacks on the rear of a unit have a +10 bonus to their attacking roll. This means that maneuver is important to combat.

Deployment can happen on any side of the battlefield you're coming from, and you can deploy however you want. Maneuver, I figure, could be mostly free movement, until you're opposed, so you can move anywhere you want until the enemy army begins to oppose you, if you try to move *past* the enemy army (i.e. try to get behind), any free unit can intercept you by rolling to attack for free, or they can let you go and follow you. Maneuver could be very rapid fire until combat begins, and if a unit is able to break free of combat and maneuver freely during combat, that would be a major deciding factor in battle because it could attack flanks and the rear.
