Just a note: I am not racist against Chinese and I have proof. Certain users seem to be implying others hate Chinese and that is not true. My great grandmother was Chinese and I do not hate any race.

I have absolutely no opinion on whether or not you are racist, nor do I care, but if you want to convince other people, the “I have black friends” card is not the best argument to make.

So Jeb Bush is still bitter he was denied the turn a President he felt he was entitled to? Maybe he would have had more success if he had paid less attention to donors and more attention to why he wanted to be president and communicating that. I like the Bushes, even admire them, but for the life of me I listened to Jeb and could not figure out why he wanted to be president or what he wanted to do as president. Would never vote for someone like that.

Religion just emphasizes deep splits and sects that may already exist. It gives people to attack all sorts of people with the religion under ulterior motives. I think people can and should practice religion, but keep it out of the government sphere.

One analysis I read, and rather liked, was that a lot of his issue was that he was last in office during the tail end of the Bush years. He just didn't understand how much the electorate had changed, or how things like social media had changed campaigning in of itself.

Laicite often involves a good deal of government intervention in religious affairs, ironically making it less 'separation of church and state' than the more lax secularist viewpoint. Essentially, laicite views religion as being a potential threat to be closely monitored and viewed with suspicion, whereas secularism views religion as being more-or-less irrelevant to the sphere of influence government operates in.

That being said, laicite can often have a specific religious bent insofar as it can be used as a tool to bludgeon minority religions and careful ignore the transgressions of the majority religion or sect, as has become the case in Turkey.

Actually the Spanish were successful because they had native allies.
Many natives decided Spanish rule was better than Aztec and Inca rule.
The Aztecs were horrible to live under.

And the Incan while not as bad could be quite oppressive.

Large numbers joined the Spanish against both the Incas and Aztecs.

But Incas offered really no value as an ally, because the Spanish wanted to rule.
The wanted allies, but subservient ones who would accept Spanish rule.
The did not want equals, they wanted subjects and slaves.

To be perfectly frank, the Spanish won against the Incas because they arrived as the Incan Civil War had literally JUST ended, and caught Atahulpa’s retinue by ambushing him during a supposed diplomatic meeting.

I mean the Aztecs for all intents, and purposes were so horrific to live under that people chose to throw themselves at the devil they didn't know.

There was a recent video by one of the big history channels on them, and the Aztecs were an...interesting bunch, to say the least. Hell in one incident they skinned a princess who had been sent to them, and the ruler wore the daughter's skin to send her father into a rage, and declare war.

To clarify the story about the princess it was basically your standard political marriage deal that went well until the Aztecs went a bit far. Basically, the overlord of the Aztecs at the time went on a state visit and found that they had not only skinned his daughter alive but presented the "wearer" to them. Understandably the guy flew into a fit of rage and declared war on them.
