And what were they supposed to do? Send in an SAS capture team to take the child away from its mother in the dead of night?

Also, this is the third child she’s gotten killed, as I mentioned. She doesn’t seem to bothered.

No, but they should have issued the baby a passport and let the family's lawyer bring him home.

What, so we should only try to save a baby's life if it's simple?

What I am saying is it would not be as simple as simply bringing him home through some paperwork. It would have been a major headache and would take time the kid likely did not have.

he was born in syria.

Being born in Syria doesn't make one a Syrian citizen. Syria lacks jus soli.

The family's lawyer was planning a trip out to talk to the mother and potentially bring the child back with him to be raised by the family. All he would have needed was the paperwork from the UK government to allow the child home.

Failing that, they could have worked with the Kurdish red crescent, who were operating in the camp, to get the baby to safety.

The UK paperwork would be useless without diplomatic relations with Syria. The Syrian government has a vested interest to keep ISIS members in their nation for their own trials

Why is this all on the UK anyway? The father was a Dutch citizen so the baby was also Dutch. Why is no one blaming them for this entirely foreseeable death?

Probably would take a month or two before the passport gets approved.

What would stop them from approving it sooner?

There are alternatives I think would have been better paths. The child could have, if the law permitted, been taken from the mother. I think that a painful and torturous death was not better than following his mother later on and facing his death as an Extremist, and I don't think that his mother at all should have been allowed to keep him seeing that she failed to do so with the past two and that she would have raised him as a zealot and a terrorist, but all the same he could have been saved from the angry claws of a painful death or his unfit mother. I don't know how good the UK's adoption system is, but it's probably better than a terrorist upbringing, and if he has a known father that could offer a better life I think that he should have been given custody in an instant. This is still the loss of a life and it is still a tragedy, but with a bit more attention on who can be given a better life than what they can have as a refugee in a camp it may have been more easily prevented.

Didn't the UK gov offer to take in her baby but wait until they could verify her as a non threat, but she refused?

Regardless good riddance, only reason she was publicizing the baby was because she thought it was a guaranteed ticket back to her old cushy home, not the one she thought would be great for her and her now four dead children.

What is the time limiting factor in issuing a passport that means it cannot possibly be sped up by the UK government when necessary to preserve a baby's life?

You seem intent on blaming the UK government, and ignoring that the woman has gotten three of her kids killed. Do you know what citizens get when they’re abroad? Consular assistance and dimpomatic efforts to assure things like legal council, a fair trial ect. Not a fast track passport and a plane ride home.

They could have just given it to the lawyer representing the family, who would then have retrieved the child.

To get an on the day passport you need to attend a passport centre in the UK or and embassy or consulate abroad. I also don't think it's possible to get an on the day passport if it's you're first one.

Have we reached that point where a baby can be classed as a member of a terrorist group simply because they have the bad luck to be born to one of the female members?
