What are your favorite dumb/weird war weapons and why?

The MacAdam Shield Shovel is a fun one and on the more on the side of just a poorly conceived idea. A spade with a swivel and a hole in it so you could dig with it or use it as a shield. Mostly used only by the 1st Canadian Division in the early stages of WWI and was quickly abandoned by the Canadian and British Armed forces since it was effectively useless.

The USSR not existed when the tank was built puts a hamper in that idea, the name should have clued you into that. The Tsar Tank was an early idea from the beginning of the war in the Russian Empire. The concept was scrapped when it proved to be useless against artillery.
