https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Pigeon

A WW2 guided missile whose operating system consisted of three pigeons conditioned to pick at pictures of ships. The pigeons were placed in front of a window and picked at the actual ships in their vision, their head movements recorded by a mechanism.

The project was ended because an officer looked at it, had a sudden moment of realisation, and shut it all down.

A single blade/flail urumi actually could work in the hands of a higly skilled, expert user.
Dual wielding those multi blade ones would just get yourself sliced to pieces though.

It could work in the hands of a skilled enough expert. But was also highly dangerous to the user so only the best trained could actually use it without maiming themselves.

Not that one. It killed more people than the Liberator and was a brutal chemical weapon. Believe me, I’ve seen it in action. IIRC, it caused mild symptoms among people who for some reason decided to recreate its effects but they did say it smelled bad.

Going back to the early 20th. The Tachanka which was invented in the Russian civil war was strange but highly effective.

Photo - http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0Vv-UOr2zpg/V ... nka-02.jpg

The Russians tossed out the Tachanka years later. However, in modern times with the world wide sales of Toyota pickup trucks, fighting groups did the following - https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/imag ... AdvRQUl_xk

Seeing the effectiveness of the modern Tachanka especially in places with little roads the Russians officially have brought it back. This is the modern version - https://southfront.org/wp-content/uploa ... 8/1-55.jpg

The V-3 was a higly inefficient use of resources. The shell was too small, and the weapon too inaccurate (and could not be retargeted without disassembling it and rebuilding it).

It was not going to do any real good.

It also got bombed to shit by the allies. Babylon would have been bombed to shit too during the Gulf War. Immobile weapons are vulnerable, as shown by the static Iraqi air defenses getting decimated during aforementioned war, and hence why countries are investing so heavily in mobile air defences. Babylon would have been destroyed by a single LGB.

Flying submarines.

Because this is exactly the typical over-complicated, over-engineered, noobish and expensive thing you'd expect from Nazi Germany... And instead it was attempted by the usually more no-nonsense Soviets and British.

Actually not that surprising for the countries and the times they looked at it, with the UK being in the 20s, just as all metal, pressurised aircraft were starting to become concepts. Once you arrive at the idea of a pressurised metal aircraft they start to sound not a million miles away from submarines so its more a case of, "well could it go underwater too". The Russians on the other hand seem to have taking the same daftness pills that they took in great quantities in the 20s and 30s where there was a lot of "innovative thinking" going on but very little thought as anything resembling practicality and even less experience in actually building stuff. This of course fitted the soviet mold where everything was to be new and all you needed to get your ideas taken half seriously was a friend with reasonable standing in the party.

Magic. Like, literal magic with wizards and artefacts and genies. It looks like everyone, including once the most important person in my country believe it, and there was a military operation in 1966 against "Grandpa Suro" and his base in Mount Kendheng as he was accused of supporting the communists by making them bullet-resistant, through magic. I mean it's understandable - bullet-resistant commies = disaster.

Luckily, the government has passed a legislation prohibiting the practice of black magic, but only if they are intended to harm others. Controlling the weather or preventing terrorism in public events is 100% legal and some government institution regularly use them. The Intelligence Agency was (in)famous for seriously planning the murder of human rights activist Munir S. Thalib through black magic before settling on a more rational method, while some people have been trying to attack George Bush through voodoo.
