Honestly, a good 3-day suspension and taking away some of their immediate privileges would do the trick I think. Put them a couple feet deep in schoolwork, take away their friends, take away their cellphones and computer privileges, and they'll think twice. Most kids smarten-up when they know it's going to cost them if they don't. The most extreme punishment is not always the most effective, in my opinion.

Punishing them in that way doesn't work. There's a simpler solution. Force them to interact with these communities for a bit, a week or so after school.

This sounds like a good idea. Having kids interact with others outside their social circles works pretty well.

Do you accept that it is possible for the media to be misrepresenting an issue by only reporting on it when a certain category of people do it, and if you do, how do you know that isn't happening to you?

Do you have any empirical evidence this is a white phenomanae? Not rationalizations, not ideological talking points, data. The media and their reporting on a topic is not quantitative data.

That's where I disagree. I believe they should be shamed and humiliated in the moment, not harassed for the rest of their life. Let's use this shaming and punishment as a harsh teaching lesson, not as a excuse to harass them for the rest of their lives.

As long as it just remains a bunch of offensive jokes that happen to work within their group of friends, I don't see a big issue. Once it goes beyond that, it does become a problem (e.g. actively antagonizing people, inflicting/encouraging violence)

Of course it's hard to gauge whether they actually believe what they're saying, so some disciplinary action would be in its place - especially this day and age. Just this video by itself though does not seem like a huge issue to me.
