Ben Carson has an MD and was apparently a really good neurosurgeon. And yet, he's also quite an idiot when it comes to anything that isn't neurosurgery.

Ben Carson, of course, didn't major in and receive a Bachelor's degree cum laude in international relations and economics.

AOC, however, did.

Gee, it's not like it's a google search away or anything

"She graduated cum laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics.[27][31][32]"

Hey, wait a minute! That was a google search away!

Besides that, the purpose was more that degrees don't make you smart. Being smart makes you smart. And sometimes, dumb people can get really far in college.

I read in a book once that you can just simply print more money to pay denbts and fund public works projects.

Though it also did say that mass unrest, starvation, and horrible popularity were side-effects if used more than, like, once every 50 years.

Fair enough, but both of their degrees have quite a bit of merit on their own. Sure, Carson didn’t have a political degree. I can see an argument for maybe he wasn’t suited for politics, because of his lack of training in the field. If we’re going head-to-head in terms of more degrees, or who has had more schooling, or or even who was a pioneer in their field, Carson takes all three rounds. Certainly AOC is not stupid when it comes to science (she’s absolutely better than me in regards to science-fair projects, my science fair project was garbage, lol), but Carson was a pioneering neurosurgeon who performed the first successful surgery to separate conjoined twins.

I mean, yeah, that's entirely true. I wouldn't not trust Carson's knowledge about neurosurgery for a second, but that knowledge doesn't translate to economic knowledge or knowledge regarding foreign affairs, and vice versa for AOC.

Either way, it's literally stupid to dismiss either of them as stupid for (in Carson's case) not having a strong amount of political knowledge or (in AOC's case) suggesting a different economic system.

100% a much better and much less reactionary outlook on her views.

Pretty much the entire reason people are calling her stupid (in this thread) is pretty much purely because of her beliefs. She can be wrong (either in your opinion or objectively so) without being stupid, ffs. It's such a high IQ hot take whenever somebody goes down the ad hom, "lolol she's stupid!!1!" line though without a hint of irony simply because of what she believes in, tbh.

To be entirely fair here, that's way more justifiable than the reactionary outrage to the mere existence of a Social Democrat.
