No they didn't, turnout in 2016 was only 55% of the voting public, and Trump received less than half of that, so at best a quarter of the voting public voted for Trump. That doesn't include the non-voting public, those too young or those disenfranchised. So to say half the nation is incorrect. It was a long way from, say, 2008, when 64% of the voting public turned out. However the ability for someone like Trump to win is a symptom of the fact that a minority always chooses who gets to be president.

Regardless, 'fuck those sources' is the cry of someone who's never going to sway from their opinion no matter what.

Anyway, the point is as much as one may dislike AOC, the multiple polls do show that the 70% tax for the 16,000 households who will actually be affected by it (bolded for emphasis) is popular. Yes a lot of people voted for Trump but hey, maybe some of those people are in favor of the tax. And who knows, maybe some people who voted for Clinton or Sanders may not be in favor of the tax.
