I misread that, for some reason, as "managers of the European final clubs".

I am glad Salford City have left Non-League. Gives the rest of us a chance at promotion.

My reasoning - Salford have made 2.5 million loss this season. With most teams in the National League budgeting around 700k they've really gone for it and don't look like stopping. To even compete it puts clubs in a really difficult situation and risk their future to remain competitive. I'm sure Salford will be replaced by another plastic team soon, but they are the football leagues problem.

When you see clubs like Gateshead, Eastleigh, Hartlepool, Chesterfield (at the beginning of the season at least) putting themselves in financial difficult to stay within touching distance.

I'm just waiting for the class of 92' to get bored, 2.5 million losses (it will only increase a league above) are not sustainable even for them, and then watch them drop like a stone and return to their natural level. The 150 true fans should enjoy it while they can.

The Europa League final is almost upon us - but Mkhitaryan won't be traveling with Arsenal, and it's not because of injuries or suspensions. He can't make it for safety reasons, which is pretty ridiculous and we're in the realm of politics again with our sports thread.

Congrats Liverpool.

Now finally, we can get van Dijk and Wijnaldum to Portugal for a few more matches this season. Hopefully they are still fresh. We have England to beat :)

Eden Hazard is now a Real Madrid player! The fee could rise to £130 million after the original fee of £88 million!

Did you know that Real Madrid have spent more money in a few months than Tottenham Hotspur have spent in 4 years!

I've been generally following along.

1. Seems a bit odd the two strongest teams, USA and France, are in a QF match up, in fact 3 of the strongest teams are on the same half of the draw so the best matches might be USA-France and then the winner of that against England in the semis leaving the final to be somewhat a damp squib.

2. VAR seems to have played a particularly aggressive part in this WC. However my main issue dating back to the Champions League finals is this idea you can just shoot the ball at a defender's arm and get a penalty no matter where they are in the box. Japan were unlucky in that regard.

Oddly, I can see an England-Germany final.. they think it's all over..

Otherwise.. Rooney scores from 70 yards..

And the ladies should be paid better. The best paid male player literally gets 250 times as much as the best female player. Talk about inequality in the workplace ;)
