Yes. That is literally how modern finance works. The conditions which allow for it won't persist for much longer. But "magic money tree" is very real. EU imports becoming more expensive =/= the economy crashing. Funny how once we depart from the realm of generalised insinuations of doom these economic consequences are far less fearsome and sensationalist.

you've presented a single hypothetical of EU goods becoming more expensive. alright. we get a bunch of stuff from the EU that we don't get from other countries due to trade and distance issues. now a huge number of our goods, including yes things like food and medicine, are harder to import and more expensive for businesses and consumers. you, uh, don't think that could go badly?

oh btw speaking of things being more expensive polls show there's a sizeable number of people that flip their opinions on independence based on whether they'd be £500 or £1000 better off or worse off after independence. it was one of the things that made getting people to support scottish independence harder. and if things suddenly get more expensive and the SNP/sinn fein are able to convince people it happened because england dragged them out of the EU and single market against their wishes along with a sneaky reminder that the reason the UK joined the EEC in the first place was to improve its sluggish economy then, oh, perish the thought!
