Well we have more in common with majority of commonwealth nations than Germany or France and it always has been us vs them. For last 500 years our policy was to ensure Europe disunity and why change it now after all of its success though Germany did throw a spanner in the plan in 1900s it worked pretty well none the less we have never lost our superpower status
