Still, think people are getting the wrong end of the stick on this one. The charity shop in question was handing these over because they were nervous, not the police demanding them. And I see the comment about diligently keeping a spoon from 'getting into the wrong hands' as sarcasm on the part of the police rather than genuine.

And you could comment about a charity shop getting nervous about them, to which I'd point out charity shops tend to be run by older people who do tend towards caution. I'm sure they've seen the news that there is a knife crime epidemic in London.
