Considering the UK is part of NATO, and Ireland is not, I do not see what NATO can do.
And the EU lacks the command structure and political will for a joint military response.

Like NATO would care. They’ve invaded/bombed several non-member nations. If the UK invaded Ireland they’d get the boot almost immediately from NATO.

I think there would be no military action but that sanctions would destroy the UK economy.

Dude the amount of Americans asking to protect Ireland would be enough to if not invaded the UK at least drive it from Ireland.

But it is barely worth discussion as it would never be seriously considered in the first place.

Your opinion mate.

Well, a few things. Ireland is not part of NATO. And the EU does not have a unified army command structure. UK is part of NATO. In other words, NATO gets torn to shreds,

Really? I had no fucking clue.

Hopefully you understand that’s sarcasm. I know Ireland isn’t in NATO it’s just easier to write NATO than list every nation that would support such a task force.

and it will take time for the EUropeans to figure some of the stuff out of their own. USA, Canada, etc. will of course not join the British.

The EU wouldn’t be alone. The US more than likely would be gearing up for a liberation.

So I am not entirely sure if the EU is capable of helping out Ireland in any meaningful military way before the Irish army is overrun by the British.

Well duh. That’s why I was assuming they’d liberate Ireland.

Unless, of course, France takes initiative on their own and manages to get a variety of other countries to join in (notably Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain).

I’m more than certain that France would jump at the chance to fuck over the UK

The fact that some people, seriously believe this is a valid solution to the UKs brexit problems, is just sad.

Signed it but I need to click a link in the confirmation email to confirm the signature. The system has probably been overwhelmed by the number of people who are signing it, as the email on previous petitions has come through instantly, but I'm still waiting for this one.

Yeah the system has been struggling to deal with all of people signing it. That does not bode well for May and I really only see two possibility's for Brexit. Either a No deal Brexit or simply no Brexit.

Assuming May's third attempt to get her deal passed fails, which I think it will, as parliament voted to rule out leaving without a deal the way for them to enforce that decision would be to revoke Article 50.

And we all know what any reasonable and rational person would choose in that case. Just revoke the fecking Article 50 already and stop this freight train of doom before it completely derails and kills the Union completely. In other words, no Brexit. Simple as that.

Yeah, everyone from the far left to the far right and everything in between agrees that May's plan is horrible, but it's somehow all of their faults and not hers.
That's perfectly logical and not at all ass-backwards reasoning.

Not really sure how that refutes anything?

All the government will say is 17410000 and change voted to leave. Hence you need to get towards that figure to become relevant. Like it or not this is not a normal petition where the issue has not been subject of a national vote recently.
