Considering that there's not much jewelry men are allowed to have in certain circles, watches can make a powerful statement. I tend to go for military brands, like Komandirskiye - love that watch! The point I'm making is "look, military watch, organized and on time, like me when I commit to our project!" Bought an Egard Watch recently - Gentlemen's Warfare V1 Class Black Chainmail.

Watches make me look goooood.

I make sassy "time to get a watch" comments whenever I have a chance.

My current watch is this one: https://meranom.com/en/komandirskie-cla ... 20712.html

I have got it running to less than +/- 5 seconds per day. It was running a little fast when the factory sent it, so I had to open it up and adjust it myself.

I have a cheap black analog Casio that I wore at my old job because we couldn’t use our phones and there weren’t a lot of clocks around otherwise. It was waterproof which was a plus because I had to do the dishes a lot. I haven’t worn it since then, though, I’m allowed to look at my phone at my new job and I’m looking at a digital register with the time at the top of the screen most of the time anyways.

I’ve always worn a wristwatch. Mine are heavy duty, digital, water resistant, and fall and scratch resistant. I’m an outdoorsman and an adventurer so I need watches that can stand up to the shit I dish out

I've worn a watch for so long I feel naked without it. I have four, three are lacking working batteries currently however. My newest (and currently on my wrist) is the one I got for Christmas this year, a Seiko Astron, a GPS solar watch. So far, I've been loving the idea of never having to reset my time and never having to worry about the battery either. Also, it looks damn snazzy.

Query, which wrist do you wear your watch on? I'm apparently backwards. I'm right handed, but I always wear my watch on my right wrist.

I have two Timexes. One has a polished silver case, white face, and brown strap, the other has a matte silver case, black face, and black strap.

I wear one with the white face to work every day, the black one is for more formal wear.

I used to have quite a fair bit of them, mostly Guess watches. They are pretty good and fine, and they have last me 5 years and more so far.

As of now I'm currently sporting a Nokia Steel HR, which is a hybrid of the two. It has smart watch features such as distance tracker and Heart Rate meter, and at the same time, it still has an analogue watch face.

I think I have it for slightly more than a year now, and it's fantastic as ever with the updates.

Battery life is 20-30 days on average. Though if you use the fitness function (more frequent tracking of your HR), it will drain a tad faster. I once used it to track my 3-hour trek around Botanical Gardens, and it drained maybe 8% battery.

It has been running well so far. The only things I have changed was to slow the regulator a bit as I have previously mentioned, as well as take off the "stopwatch" rotating bezel to polish down the underside a bit, as it was a bit tight when rotating it. I also took off the metal strap and ironically replaced it with a NATO strap, because I really don't like metal watch straps. The NATO straps actually suit them very well.

Watches are dumb. They're basically just bracelets without the balls to be creative. They did once serve a practical purpose, but that hasn't been relevant in around 20 years. Now, they're just boring jewelry.

I'm not a fan of metal straps either, and there's nothing wrong with combining materials for the best result, so I replaced mine with a leather strap. NATO straps could be better than leather straps, if you wear your watch in hot weather, or if you go swimming with it. For swimming purposes, I replace it with a rubber strap, but it's not too often that I take my watch swimming or surfing. If I'm surfing, I want as few devices on me as possible, preferring to be one with nature, and all of the pools I go to have clocks and the lap's end. I also don't wear it when working out, or in really hot weather, so leather works well for me. Old school Soviet straps are also quite good:

I do have a smartwatch, the reason I like it is given I also have wireless earphones I just chuck my phone in my bag and I can pretty much do everything using just the watch and earphones and don't have to take my phone out or do anything. It allows for a pretty hands free no worries day.

I've always despised watches because of what they stand for. I consider them to be the slave shackle of the modern age: They are the mark of someone who has to be on time for things. Such a person is almost invariably an employee, since the very need to be "on time" is always a direct result of a situation where one must answer to someone else. The watch embodies every part of the 100% cringe associated with such a situation.

Alas, I have been in such situations in the past. My slave band was a basic Timex, worn on the right wrist, with really big numerals and bold hands. This design made it easy for me to check it constantly without being obvious about it. It's almost 30 years old.

Fortunately, I haven't needed to be right on time for anything in many years. The watch instantly stopped being worn when I moved to self-employment in the year 2000. Still, I haven't thrown it out because I have some appreciation for mechanical things that keep working for so long. I used to even keep it running with new batteries as needed. The latest battery has died, though, and I've never bothered to get another one put in. My watch-wearing days are long over.
