Why hasnt North Korea's military descended into chaos?

Why hasn't parts of the military just split apart and tried to create their own fiefdoms? Like los zetas, an entire group of special military force just up and left. Or many of the South American or African countires where the military division are sometimes taken over by a charismatic leader to do their own thing.

I was just reading an article earlier today that soldiers are breaking into civilian houses to steal food. That lead to the question I had in the OP. Clearly the grunts at the bottom arent doing any good.

Two reasons:

1) The North Korean government gives the military massive benefits compared to the rest of the population, if the government collapsed into a military junta, it would mean that there's less certainty.
2) I suspect many of the North Korean rank and file, and even a number of officers are true believers.

I have noticed that the more recent versions of Tropico have nerfed that playstyle, as the increased strength of uprisings can overwhelm even very strong military forces, or result in a "Pyrrhic victory", because your workforce has been decimated by the monstrous death toll that the military dished out on the populace.
