Postby Ophiuchus Serpent-bearer » Sat Feb 16, 2019 8:20 am

What is more important; Gods or the laws you think they promote?

I think the Moses myth tells us the answer but am curious as to what you think.

A number of constitutions and religious thinking systems put man made laws above Gods and their laws. We have all heard the phrase; We are a Nation of laws, not of men or Gods.

Laws can be followed while supernatural Gods, imaginary to me but perhaps real to you, even though they are all absentee Gods, cannot be physically followed. Only their laws can be.

One of the archetypal Jesus’ said he would know his people by their works and deeds, which to me means following his laws, and that is partly why I put the best rules and laws I can find above all the Gods.

Knowing that secular governments have rejected the laws of the Gods, are you living by the law of the land or the laws of God?

If you follow the laws of a God; which God?

Can you please fix your thread titles that you use, so that they aren't just pulled from the first post and thus get disgustingly truncated?

I am following the laws of the land. "God's" laws are far too arbitrary for me to follow, and I don't believe in any gods anyway, so I see no reason to take any holy books seriously.

Oh God! with all the moral relativism and ambiguity these days I am so confused about what the Laws of Prom are

like is it acceptable for girls to ask guys to go? is it acceptable to bring a date who isnt a senior? Is it acceptable for same sex couples to dance - or do they just have to be 'going with a bunch of friends''? How short is acceptable for a dress? do guys have to wear a suit? is a corsage required? should not cool people be allowed in my presence? If I don't go to the Prom can I still come to the after party?

just what does God want me to know about Prom?

I think the laws are energy cannot be created or destroyed, the entropy of any isolated system always increases, and the entropy of a system approaches a constant as the temperature approaches absolute zero.

Or were those the laws of thermodynamics?

Good for you buddy.

I hope you are moral enough to know that you should be fighting the religious ideologies out there that promote homophobia and misogyny.

Change the labels in this quote to women, minorities, gays or children being brainwashed by religions and it shows what we should be thinking and doing for each other.

Then they came for the Catholics, but I did nothing because I'm not a Catholic. Finally, they came for me, but by then there was no one left to help me." – Pastor Father Niemoller (1946)”

Let me ask you as well. Do you actively and verbally fight the more immoral and oppressive homophobic and misogynous mainstream religions?

The laws of God are more important than the laws of man, but God commands people to follow the laws of man when they don't contradict God's law.

As for prom, I would like to know what God has to say about that. The Bible isn't very clear on the subject. :p
