OH wow, that's awesome. I've, uh, been doing this game for a REALLY long time. Like, since, 2002? Or 2003? Something like that? And this is the nicest thing I've ever heard. Thank you so much for letting me know.

I was a big fan of Robin Laws so when I was forced to make an emergency name change (now THERE'S a story...) I went for that, but didn't quite pick up the mannerisms of Her Exaltedness or anything, just kept going with the oddball riff I was already going with.

Good lord, I've been here a long time, haven't I?

But seriously, this is very awesome and gave me a much-needed smile on a cold evening.

Thank you.

No, thank you. I would never have been here if it wasn't for you.

I discovered NationStates waaay back in 2009 whilst looking up a book series I was a fan of then, the Icemark Chronicles. I chanced across a nation on NS named after one of the fictional countries in the book, found the concept intriguing and that was that. Old Tyrannia and its ironically slightly older twin, New Imperial Tyrannia, were made the same day; the latter was my main account until I turned automatic login off for some reason and only then realised to my horror that I couldn't remember the password.

Thanks for the merge, saves me some embarrassment.

I barely even remember how I discovered NationStates, to be quite frank, but I most likely just ran into it at some point, and thought it looked interesting, so I joined this place as frozen guns, ending up in some RP region a few days afterwards. Fun times, and eh, the place's rather linear line of successor regions is still going, hell, even housing a relatively small part of the core community of the original region.

This specific nation of mine is probably the fourth puppet I made specifically for the place I currently reside in.

Edit: how specifically specific.

A friend introduced me to this and at first I just answered questions and such before beginning to migrate to the forums. I started with F7 before going into portal to the multiverse and then into NSG. I remember I had a long inactive period before coming back and staying and here I am.

When I was very young, i had an obsession with having an imaginary nation. I would often doodle about nations, drawing maps, and fighting wars with my friends.

Wanting to do so online, i found nationstates, and created this account, Jolthig, on August 31st, 2010.

This Australian guy i was following kept posting images of his nations headlines and it looked freaking hilarious so I joined and was hooked immediately. I prefer games where you build nations, be graphic or text. This had a lot of humor as well which made it more appealing. I dont know any games similar.

Started this shabang in 2017. A friend had recommended it to me, and wanted to start a role playing region which we did and couldn’t succeed in. Some of the people in the region abused powers and whatnot, dumb stuff.

Started on the forums literally today, this is my first post outside of IC stuff.

I was crossing the street in the rain one day and something reached out of the storm drain and grabbed my ankle and ... no, wait, that was something else. I honestly don't remember.

No that was Nationstates. It's one of Max's more unconventional recruitment tactics.

He got me with the whole monster under the bed shtick.

Once he even wrote a book to promote his game.

The poll, which was removed when CWA's thread (which had no poll) was merged into this one, has been restored. I encourage people to vote in the poll if their vote was removed along with the poll, or even if they hadn't voted before its removal.

I joined the game by an invitation request to try it out from my old best friend back in 2018 who is on here as Anime North America. After a bit of getting used to how it works, I liked it and so I am stuck here. :)

An RP on this site came up in the search results when I was searching for keywords for something else I believe.

08'/09 I think. Don't even know what nation I signed up as back then. I left a few times since. Came back last September and was surprised this place was still active.

We're not friends anymore.

Early 2008. I was linked to the site by a former acquaintance. They had made a nation so that piqued my interest. They no longer use the site but I stayed. It's been a decade now. Wow.
