When and how did you find NationStates?

I was talking to my friend from elementary school on the phone (we were in high school by this point) and I told her I was looking for a new game to play since I was taking a hiatus from ROBLOX. She told me about NationStates, so I joined. My first nation was founded in 2012. My nation was called Tiggerland. I played, but got bored after a bit and it CTEd. Tiggerland is now available for reuse if anyone wants to use that name.

Didn’t play for a while, but one day in 2014, I was home sick with strep throat. I was bored with ROBLOX and thought back to when I played NationStates so I decided to try again. I didn’t play much with this nation for the first few years, but when ROBLOX got rid of their forums (likely due to the fact that they couldn’t keep the spammers at bay). So now I’m trying to make up for about 3 years of lost world building.

Huh. Well, for me it was roughly:

Liberal childhood/parents -> Radical Liberalism -> Nazism -> Social Democrat -> Democraratic Socialist -> Maoist

For me:

Conservative parents -> Big into communist theory at age 10 (though I didn't like Stalin or Mao or any of the other major "communist" dictators) -> Realised at age 12-13 I was more conservative than anything else -> Started to drift more libertarian as the years went on.

It’s funny when I search something and Nationstates randomly pops up. It has everything from flags, weapons, random off topic discussion, and other stuff spread all over google. It surprises me every time because it’s not that big of a site compared to others. Even with google images, links to nationstates show up if you type in something you didn’t even know was on nationstates. Unfortunately, some of it pretty old and the content is lacking, but it’s still there.

I think I ran across it on accident back in 2006 while researching Sparta, came across some Sparta themed NS nations and was confused by their mentions of such things as uranium mining. I didn't know what this place was.

IN 2007 I ran across a political personality test on okcupid's quizzes, (they later put them on helloquizzy and even later seemed to have completely purged all those great purges without bothering to mention it, and I'm still bothered by it) and it was NationStates based and led me here. I took my decision to make a nation way too seriously wondering about the name and such things but in 2008 I finally went "fuck it" and did it. Theen I realized just how silly this place was, never liked the name but if I had it my way I'd be renaming it constantly so whatever.

I voted on some of the first World Assembly things. Though I'm not a member any more.

I was wondering how I would run my perfect country following the recent change of government in my country that has turned out to be far less competent than I had hoped. This was also around the same time Israel passed its nation-state law. I envisioned a democratic, atheist nation-state that would serve as a refuge for atheists, agnostics and other nonbelievers fleeing persecution from all over the world, much like Israel serves as the nation-state of the Jewish people. I happened to Google "nation-state" and stumbled across this site by accident. I created my first nation (this one) on July 20th, 2018. The resolution to ban capital punishment was what kickstarted my involvement in the NS Forum in the first place. The rest is history.

2005. The indie games developer Zooptek (creator of Paintball 3 Extreme) made a text-based strategy game called 'Battlegrounds' where you can log in with a Nationstates account and then slowly collect in-game cash to spend on units, attacking other Nationstates members who had any active units. You had to have an NS account but beyond that the game had no effect on NS itself. From this I met a lovely American couple who ran an NS region with some very good roleplay. I spent a good 3 years or so just lurking on NSG while eating a tuna & cheese panini each morning at college.....then I finally decided on commenting.

I found NS in 2014. I just, really got into politics all of a sudden. Then, I searched up "Politics simulator". NationStates appeared. At first, I was Deckensberg Prussia. But then, I asked a certain question in a certain region which caused a war. As a result of that, I logged off. Suddenly, I just remembered about NationStates again, for some reason. Joined again.

Wow, I remember you, you were something of a pariah your first summer because you kept posting topics about how you liked the constitutionalist party and your beliefs and of course people kept arguing with you. It wasn't so much because of your beliefs as it was you just kept on making topics about yourself and what you believe and not being able to argue that well. It's such a noob thing to do on here but happens all the time. Stick yourself out like that other posters will hammer you down like a nail, across the spectrum.
