Based on forum research from previous accounts, I can point to my very first nation of Carriebean back in 2013 with me mostly answering issues and typing out some of the worst fact books I've seen myself do. I remember I was on facebook back in those days, with me being addicted to the games on there until I discovered one or two other sites to fill my void for nation building, then I cam across NS in 2013. Then again, I was in my teens, so researching various RL ship designs or templates for use in alternate scenarios wasn't on my priority list. Thern lasted for about three months until I forgot to feed it and it died. With the passing of that pet, I decided to try the forums on the exact day that my nation CTE'd as the creatively titled "Carriebean". I had all the initial thing of a noob to the forums, bad grammar, one liners and smile faces, or at least that's what I've noticed while on this sight.

Then came Newne Carriebean2, which explains my overall lack of creativity in the naming department. I remember that the people I was in the World Diplomacy II RP were far better than I was, but I still had plenty of fun on there from what I can recall. It was also where I had initially gotten the serdian-thernanian war which I renamed for some odd reason.

Carriebean7 ((June 6th,2015-August 5th,2015) Carriebean7 was where I met BESB and many of the friends that I used to know and interact with, but have mostly faded away or I've forgotten about, I'll call this my high school account because I was there for a few months and I don't remember much.
Newne Carriebean7 (August 8th,2015-present) This is the nation I've been with the longest on the site, and has proven to be quite tough in lasting the wear and tear of the internet for nearly three years.

I found NationStates in March after my IRL friends had jumped in on the adventure. The catalyst for this was a nation called Sicaris, who I know IRL, who had about 1.1 billion people at the time, and I just jumped on the bandwagon and never looked back.

To further add on what Yohannes said, the game stuck with me even more because I was feeling those mobile game days when all you can do was pay up more and more just so that you see your nation develop.

So, being able to use my own imagination and to be able to create anything without paying? Sign me up, please! I just do mainly issue-answering at first, then I eventually saw the forums, its rules, and went into creating more and more facts, until it snowballed into what it is now.

One of those games where a newbie can RP with the veterans and still be welcomed with it, without being curbstomped to the ground because "my nation has been around longer with 8 billion people."

I was bored and I was scrolling through the internet looking for political games and poof Nationstates came up.
At first I was confused because the first screen is literally just that creepy Jennifer eye thing. I was going to forget about it but I read the description it gives you and I was instantly intrigued. I answered the arbitrary nation questions that start your nation and founded my nation(which is the only one I have). I can honestly say I was looking for the option to declare war on another nation for like a year I'm glad there isn't though I think that would make the community goes militaristic in a matter of weeks.
All the peaceful nation would be wiped out in a giant war. But anyway I also couldn't find the forums for another 6 months it was as if a whole new world opened up.

I'm just riffing on my name and sig.. the truth is I used to be on the Snopes forum boards around the time of 9/11 when it became famous, but they became a bit too icky and whiny and another forum member mentioned they were spending more and more time on another board - I generally liked that poster's views so I followed over and it was NSG, and never went back.

I swear to this day my nation was founded before 2004. I remember the hay day of the All-Elves war and Melkor Unchained's sky furnace. I tell you the RPs these days don't hold a candle to it.

OOC - When did you start playing NS, and how did you find it in the first place?

Oh, that's a great story. One I'll never forget.

I actually stumbled upon NS entirely by accident. 2 years ago, I was reading the dystopian classic, 1984, and I was searching for any anthems I could associate with the superstates to sort of uh.. put-an-anthem-to-the-name. That's when I stumbled upon this epic video. At first, I thought, like all the other videos I'd seen, someone had made a parody anthem for Eurasia. But oddly enough, the map did not add up to the novel's illustration of Eurasia's borders. So, I checked the description for answers.

And I quote, the description of the video reads:

Purely a work of fiction

The link lead to this deat'd NS. Intrigued by this "Nation States" thing, I decided to make my own country, just for funsies.

I started out as the now dead nation, Bagumrepublika. Called quits for a while since I found RPs rather boring and never quite understood how the forums worked until November last year, when I got bored and decided to pick up NS again.

Thus, the Pan-Asiatic States was born. In a way, the Eurasia featured in the video kind of inspired PAS' lore and history. I never really met the guy though. He was long dead when I joined NS.

In 2016, I saw a friend on going to be soon Ex-Social Media Platform Google+. We were in a Google+ community on an alliance of nations we created, and he posted about his NS stats. I found the numbers and colours to be interesting so I decided to make my own nation.

On January 13 2017, I made my first NS nation, named Blue K (short for Blue Kingdom). But it was a dumb short name and I didn’t like how complicated it was, so I immediately abandoned it on the day of creation.

On April Fools 2017, I decided to attempt to make another nation again. That nation grew to be me

Way back in 2015, it was just after my 3rd attempt for a collaborative worldbuilding thing on r/Worldbuilding I was contacted about a different worldbuilding website (I cannot for the life of me either remember or pull up the relevant messages to remember) that, after a lot of time bouncing around, I found myself somehow on NS. The ease of access was what brought me here because the other websites I attempted to use had their different forums and other linked websites that made it hard to really get into them.

I initially hopped around regions until I found Auralia, where I was drawn to its lack of an Earth map for RP, and I've been in the RP scene ever since. I had a brief hiatus for summer of 2016 but came back as I was in my high school government class.

Lucky since then I have grown a brain, it may not always be noticeable, but at least it's something. >.>

What's funny is that I now find myself on the complete opposite side of the left-right scale now, which is... Odd to say the least.
