There's no side-stepping the issue, the history will be "this was bad" which will inevitably not jive with some people.

I was mainly referring to educators who will directly tell students to take political stances regarding modern day issues, but again, there’s nothing wrong with teaching the history of an oppressed group as long it it doesn’t devolve into the aforementioned rhetoric.

I mean, telling people they should have stances on modern day issues doesn't sound bad, citizens should be invested in their society and its politics.

they are not teaching gay history, they are teaching look at the good things gays do, they are not icky, which is a decent enough of an idea. there is also a component in the bill to do the same for the disabled.

Well, the article says "required" so it's not an elective. It'll probably be worked into the US/World History classes by most districts.
