That’s like saying that the civil rights movement started ages before it did. I’m talking about the big one in the near future. I doubt there are many time travelers here and teaching people the future seems like a bad idea.

I doubt something like that will happen, because Blacks in the US were legally segregated, but LGBT people have the same rights as any other citizen.

Republicans have been working pretty hard to make that not the case for trans people, and up until a few years ago for gay and bi people too.

This is why I’m not an atheist and I don’t believe strongly in any religion being better. Excessively rude attacks on a religion convinced me not to be like the people in question. So, ironically, radical anti-theists and religious fundamentalists have a bigger influence on my beliefs than people who share the same thoughts.

It is not exactly ironic when you think about it enough. If X were as obvious as its supporters claim, then why would its supporters need to be so actively promoting it? This goes for flat-earthers, chemtrail believers, moon hoaxers, and extremists in general, when they happen to be the proselytising type.
Also, it seems that being totally revolted and disgusted by (and misinformed to where gay=bi=trans=(opposite-sex)-incest-loving) any and all deviations from straight, cisgender, and following gender roles is by far the most common result. The second most common is what you said (which is maybe a 1/30 chance, on a good day).

Telling students court cases is useless memorizations without the context - or "identity" as you inelegantly put it - and not worth learning other than for standardized tests.

There's nothing wrong with studying court cases. It helps you know why our laws are what they are right now. "We don't need to study court cases" is certainly a hot take that no gov teacher is going to buy. When we study court cases, of course we go over their context. Once again, we do cover LGBT events in our history and gov classes, but we do so in a sequential, historical matter. We don't single-out LGBT events and dump them together. In fact, that would be a good example of tearing away the context. In history class we learn history, not 'LGBT History,' 'White History,' or 'Female History.'

Do note that the law is not going to create a whole new mandatory class or even create an elective, it's a modification to the current curriculum to add in LGBT contributions where relevant. If they go far enough, then there might even be conversations on Stonewall.

But as Farn mentioned the school system in the US is extremely de-centralized and I don't think Trenton has the authority to impose a precise means to do this statewide.
