You think that the transportation infrastructure in NJ is bad? Outside of the metropolitan areas of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA has horrid infrastructure. Truly horrid. At least in Hell the roads are reasonably paved.

NJT employees are our biggest problem, yesterday I had a conductor who cursed out a mom and her kids for not having the proper ticket (while you need the right ticket it was the wrong approach) and then 5 secs later the same conductor let 3 guys (all reeking of weed) ride for free because of a certain aspect they had in common. Sorry for the threadjack but NJT is pretty bad.

New Jersey's transport system should be fixed instead. The money should be reappropriated.

So you’re siding with NJ then?

I mean, PA is fast-approaching Greece-levels of broke-ness. We can barely maintain order in some of the smaller, poorer towns, and our infrastructure is literally crumbling. In fact, I’d go so far as to argue that some parts of PA are a “failed state”, so to speak.

You’re right, we should return to topic. My apologies.

Tbh, the public education system in the United States is a clustertruck of unfathomable scale. Hence why I am privately schooled, and rather thankful that I have that privilege. The LGBT history lessons, while well intentioned, won’t fix the underlying issues in the education system.

PA is one of those states that used to be great when everything worked. Now it's one of those states you go to unless you have a business or family there.

US education standards vary wildly between state and even districts, it's completely unfair to say that we're all educated like the third world, particularly when there's a world class university system to be had.

The Civil Rights Movement was a very specific period in American history marked by large-scale demonstrations across the country in an attempt to secure equals rights for the single largest minority in the country (at the time). It was highly organized and had a lasting impact on the average American and American society to such a degree that the affects can still be felt to this very day.

There is no movement the LGBT can claim ownership to which bares any similarity to the sheer weight, influence, and importance of the Civil Right Movement in American History. Covering all LGBT History in America would just give us another "Black History Month"; another pointless division in the teaching of American History.

for the most part new jersey public schools are pretty good. Teachers make real money, most have are in the process of getting their masters degree in eductaion, again outside the big cities class sizes are small. there really is not any reason not too.

if you were to prepare a course of american history of the 20th century, its a continuation of the civil rights movement, the womens rights movement, and the counter culture, and how these have changed american culture.

I mean, this doesn't have to be a massive unit. This can be a small addition to what is taught, with one or two questions on any sort of standardized test. It's a smaller movement, but it still saw people fight for their rights as relating to their sexual orientations.
