HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR ZOMBIE POLL

Postby Almagarde » Mon Apr 12, 2010 2:29 am

Zombies started out as a shambling corpse raised by the forces of darkness that fell slowly out of the shadows and strangled you from behind. It soon evolved into a fast moving ball of rage suffering from something all too biohazardous. Which did you prefer?

Fast zombies reflect the skill of a writer/director, imo. It just means they aren't trying hard enough to create the right circumstances, I think slow zombies are where its at.

I like the 28 day later type of Zombies. The typical slow, rotten Zombie simply doesn't seem to be much of a threat in our days of automatic weapons and the like.

For the new variety to make sense, they have to be still alive, just infected. Once you die, rigor mortis kicks in and you get your run of the mill slow zombie.

On a large scale breakout, the slow kind are more intimidating, however in a small area, the runny ones can prove to be deadlier. The problem is, with viruses that just make the enemy crazy, they will either fight themselves until they die, or they will die of dehydration after 3 or 4 days. That was the biggest problem with 28 days later style zombies.

The undead however, will be outside of your bunker for years and years, just increasing their numbers, which is what makes them my preferred choice.

I prefer the fast 28 Days Later types. But not the ones on Left 4 Dead, as the L4D ones kick as if they're some football hooligan, which insinuates sentience. Zombies aren't supposed to be sentient!

Your characterization of football hooligans as sentient concerns me.

Personally, its gotta be the slow type of zombies. Especially the ones from The Walking Dead comic fame.

The new faster, and in ways smarter, zombies are just not the same for fear factor....

I call shenanigans. I entered this thread thinking I would be presented with various options for putting up a 'zombie poll'. Not a thread on different types of zombies. :P

Depends on how many zombies. Not very many, they need to be fast to spread the virus/magic/zombiemaker and create an immediate threat. Craptons of them, they need to be slow shamblers. Because at that point, it's inevitable that at least one of them is going to get you, and if they're slow about it, it makes it fucking creepy.

I propose a new kind of zombie. Michael Myers zombie. Slow, but always right fucking behind you when you turn around.

How do I like my zombie?

Roasted throughly (as to kill the infectious disease), then pierced with a spear. Add exotic fruits and hot sauce.

But seriously, folks, I've never been a big fan of the "magical" zombies, under the influence of a master. I definitely prefer the infected type, which turns them into flesh-devouring, moaning, free-for-alling monsters.

They were not technically zombies. The were infected with the rage virus, so it was more like "The Crazies" rather than "Night of the Living Dead" (Romero FTW!). And unlike the T-Virus, the humans had to be alive, so they are most definitely not zombies.

The Dawn of the Dead remake type zombie is a true running zombie, but I guess virus suffering non-zombies are more realistic, so the threat is more understandable.
