So, I took the Sextant Quiz and got this result. I guess I don't really think it's surprising.
However, that quiz made me think about an idea I call Politics from First Principles. I actually disagree quite strongly with the notion but the key point is that what people think politically is the outcome of some core ideas that they have (first principles). Since I disagree with it I haven't really seriously thought in the past about what those principles would be. Today, though, I had a go at that. Please, consider answering this survey.
The idea is that once I've got a few responses I'll try and see if there's some way of predicting the questions the form ends on based on the initial set of questions. It would be particularly interesting to see if there is some clustering of answers (and if those clusters correspond with self-identified ideological descriptions). And, of course, failing this we'll just have a survey which shows distributions of answers of Generalites... similar to the "how old are you?" threads or normal NSG polls.
