I'd watch this before getting in any arguments.

Tim Pool my man! He is generally pretty level headed.

My own personal recap of the story so far:
Black Hebrews engage the high schoolers and begin a verbal exchange, instigating the insult throwing.
If Mr. Phillips is to be believed he went over there to try and stop the arguing by beating a drum at students with zero culturally context of what the heck that means.
Students don’t budge because why would they, to them this is just some random old dude beating a drum at them, and then one of Mr. Phillips comrades begins more racially charged arguments. That sure as hell did not help the situation at all.
Shitstorm is kicked off in social media over a whole nothing burger, like seriously at worst this is a misunderstanding due to Mr. Phillip’s lack of explanation to the boys.

Because...?

Actually, dude, thanks for linking me to that video. I can say, without a doubt, that I love this channel now.

Not because of the content in the video you linked, though, but because that Youtuber is an unironic Laura Loomer stan and I love it.

Apparently other native tribes despise Phillips and view him as a racist who continually fucks over their cause. So there you go. He is only tolerated by his own tribe, the Omaha.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

The headlines by themselves show a pattern of editorial decisions with a very clear political leaning.

I would believe you if you said he's a liberal. But you really mucked it up by saying he has "socialist sympathies", when it looks like he hates everything to the left of Clinton.

I've watched most of those. While I disagree with some of his politics, I felt he is trustworthy enough to share how he looked into this incident.
And I believe he considers himself center-left, though I think that might be relative, considering how far off the deep end the left has gone. I would call myself center-right, and he often feels a little too far left for me to call it "center-left."

So people he has interviewed makes him have a bad look? You are going after a journalist for being photographed in a group setting with people he interviewed? Are you kidding me. He has stated multiple times that he does not endorse their content plus he is half Korean, maybe slightly less I know he is mixed though, so definitely not a white nationalist nor sympathetic to them outside of freedom of speech.

From what I could tell from the numerous videos I watched of his I should rephrase, I made the common mistake of considering the Nordic countries socialists my bad. He certainly is no neoliberal though and was really active with the Occupy Democrats movement.

He also made a video where he hung out with actual Swedish far righters and neo-nazis while visiting the supposed "no-go zones" of Malmo, which is a very center-left thing to do. So center-left that Lauren Southern does it too... oh wait.

Also, he apparently made a puff piece of a video on Gavin McInnes and his actually fascist gang, the Proud Boys (lol), and that's just the cherry on top.

Which, to be fair, is peak ENLIGHTENED CENTRISM: giving fashies uncritical, unquestioning coverage and free advertising because "truth is in the middle of the United States' terminally broken overton window".

Oh my gosh it’s like he is doing actual journalism or something?!

I read your sig you should already be aware that a part of journalism is on the ground reporting and that is what he does sometimes.

Well, he was part of the Occupy Wall Street movement, and even used a drone to keep an eye on the police for lawbreaking behavior in an effort to defend the protestors from illegal police actions.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.

Good, politically moderate journalism, however, generally doesn't involve constantly openly collaborating and sympathizing with extremists. When most of his content is left-bashing and he has been openly close to not one, not two, not three, but several right-wing extremists (including a collaboration with the #pizzagate guy who got James Gunn and Sam Seder fired under false pretenses)... is it really insane to think he's either being dishonest or, more tragically, lacks self-awareness to realize he's being used to further an agenda he disagrees with?

It's worth note the SPLC was forced to apologize to Tim Pool (among others) for making similar inferences that you are doing right now.

https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/201 ... resentment

On March 9, 2018, we posted an article on our Hatewatch blog entitled “The multipolar spin: how fascists operationalize left-wing resentment.”

Shortly after its publication, we received complaints registered by or on behalf of several journalists mentioned in the article that it falsely described one or another of them as white supremacists, fascists, and/or anti-Semites, and falsely accused them of engaging in a conspiracy with the Putin regime to promote such views. Because neither we nor the article’s author intended to make any such accusations, we took it down while we re-examined its contents.

That re-examination has caused us to conclude that, while the intent of the article, which we thought was clear at the time of publication, was to show only that individuals on the left share some policy views with respect to multipolarism that are also held by the far right and/or appear on far-right media and conferences advocating them, the article did not make that point as clearly as it could or should have.

Accordingly, we have decided not to re-post it. In addition, we extend a sincere apology to those who believe they have been falsely described in it, including Max Blumenthal, Ben Norton, Tim Pool, Rania Khalek, and Brian Becker, and disclaim, as clearly as we can, any intention to suggest that any of them are white supremacists, fascists, and/or anti-Semites, that they hold such views, or that they are engaged in a conspiracy with the Russian government to promote such views or otherwise.

Even the SPLC classified Tim Pool as a journalist on the left.

The SPLC's mistake, I'd say, was going full on "they're fashy". From what I'm seeing, Tim Pool is no more a fascist than Dave Rubin is. Fingers crossed, Pool isn't as much of a useful idiot as Rubin.

He has stated multiple times that he does not endorse their content plus he is half Korean, maybe slightly less I know he is mixed though, so definitely not a white nationalist nor sympathetic to them outside of freedom of speech.

So he constantly hangs out with them and sympathizes with the biggest white supremacist cons of all (their alleged commitment to freedom of speech, which Richard Spencer himself admitted is a con).

Camelone wrote:From what I could tell from the numerous videos I watched of his I should rephrase, I made the common mistake of considering the Nordic countries socialists my bad. He certainly is no neoliberal though and was really active with the Occupy Democrats movement.

Occupy Democrats or Occupy Wall Street?

Maybe it is because Tim has a commitment to an ideal that he wants to give everyone a fair shake and that is why he wants everyone to be able to say what is on their mind. That’s not radical nor endorsing it’s called the 1st Amendment.

Occupy Wall Street, geez I’m bad with names.

The only sympathy he gives them is that they deserve the right to state their beliefs without being censored. To me that seems to be fine, it is one of the founding ideals of America. I think he is more of an idealist who believes in a free and responsible press, plus the Left has the power now in the influential institutions so for an anti-authoritarian and anti-identitarian like him the Left is a logical target. I’ll try and find the video where he talks about why he punches left more than right.

SPLC has made a fair number of mistakes lately, but that's not the point.

Tim Pool is definitely on the left. The SPLC featured him as a leftist journalist for their piece on leftist journalists. He supported occupy wall street, he wrote for vice news, then fusion media.

He's a very very disappointed leftist, but he's still on the left.
